Part 6 - Deja vu & First time

Start from the beginning

"I'm glad to see your friends getting along with mine." I snapped my head in the direction of the voice.

The fact that Reid was standing beside me had completely slipped my mind. I took a good look at Reid, who was dressed casually in a blue jumper, dark grey jeans and Vans.

"Some more than others." I threw a slight dig his way.

"That hurt me, Josette." Placing a hand on his heart, he grinned. I gave him a gentle smile, but I could feel someone's eyes burning in the back of my head.

"What if we went outside to get to know one another?" His voice carried a faint undertone of sarcasm, but I chose to believe what he was saying.

"Lead the way." Taking hold of my hand, he dragged me out the kitchen and into the backyard. Young adults gathered around a huge pool in the centre of a bustling garden, drinking away their problems.

In order to avoid intoxicated individuals and prying eyes, we chose to take two deck chairs at the rear of the garden. It was not until now that I realised Reid had brought the big bottle of tequila.

"Why don't we play twenty questions?" I raised my eyebrows in confusion.

"I want to get to know the real Josette." Yet again, sarcasm was laced in his words.

"What about you? I want to know who Reid Williams really is." He did not seem pleased that I was asking—I couldn't let him get away with merely grilling me.

"Alright, a question for a question. You go first!" His icy eyes were staring right into my heart.

"Ok, why did you get all uncomfortable when Ingrid called you Ever?" He gritted his teeth and locked his jaw.

"You play a dirty game, Josette." I took the opportunity to take a good look at him again. He had light stubble covering his jaw and little freckles dancing across his now light pink cheeks, which were caused by an increase in alcohol in his system.

"My real name is Everett Reid Williams, and my mom, Gray, Jamie, and baby sister call me Ever or Everett."

"Why did she call you Ever? I mean, you said-" He hushed me with his finger placed firmly against his pouted lips.

"Its my turn." I rolled my eyes, snatching the bottle out of his hand and taking a rather large gulp.

"What happened, June 21st? I mean apart from Jaden and Hannah?" I removed the bottle from my lips and handed it back over to him.

"How'd you know about June 21st?" Our hands brushed as the bottle crossed over.

"I heard people talking about it at the party." I looked down at my feet and breathed deeply. I was not expecting this to be one of my questions.

"It was my mum's funeral. He said he couldn't come because his mum was having car trouble and he needed to take her to work. But in reality, he was spending his time with Hannah, trying to get into her pants." His eyes widened slightly.

"You definitely need this more than I do." He held out the tequila in front of me and smirked.

I extended my hand and took the bottle. He leaned forward, catching my gaze. I could feel the intensity spread throughout my body. His blue eyes gleamed with the lights from the house behind me, and the pool water reflection danced across his face. I wish I knew what was going through his mind right now.

"What's going through that mind of yours?" He swallowed deeply, then shifted his gaze from my own eyes to my lips and back again.

"You really don't want to know."

*Cara's POV*

After what seemed like an eternity, Josie and Reid returned through the kitchen door and rejoined our group. We were currently sitting around playing 'Truth or Dare'.

As I looked between Josie and Reid, I noticed their nervous demeanour. I knew something had happened, but I didn't know what. My gaze landed on Josie, who smiled with flushed cheeks. Josie moved around the circle and sat between me and Jamie.

"What was that all about?" I confronted the red-faced girl. She gave me a scowl and shook her head.

"Nothing like that I swear." I raised one brow and responded with a hum. Reid sat across from Josie and smirked.

"Before you think that's something." She waved her hands around in front of herself. "We just played twenty questions and talked about my mum." That immediately silenced me.

"Anyway, Amy it's your go!" Grayson cheered, quieting the group while sitting alongside Reid and Jamie. He winked flirtatiously at me, and I responded with an air kiss that turned into a middle finger. I was never into PDA.

"Ok, Dare I guess?" Grayson selected one of the cards from the centre of the circle and read it aloud to the group.

"Make out with the hottest guy in the group!" I watched as her eyes scanned the entire circle before settling on Reid.

"Reid!" She jumped up from her seat position and strutted over to him. He stood up and watched her every move. Her hands were placed on his face as he leaned down and pressed their lips together.

The kiss became intense and heavy, causing everyone in the group to uncomfortably look away or rock back and forth.

I looked over at Ingrid, who was too engrossed in Reid's kiss. I assumed Reid and Ingrid were involved in something or perhaps in the past?

She averted her gaze as they distanced themselves and whispered to each other. I couldn't believe what I was seeing as they walked away and headed upstairs.

Josie's gaze followed them up the stairs as she let out a small laugh. I wonder what that was all about.
