It had been a full week since the party. Jaden had been incessantly calling me every day since then. He would apologise, shift the blame onto Hannah, and then accuse me of having an 'emotionless demeanour'. His best friend, Miles, even showed up at my apartment, pleading with me to take Jaden back. How low can one stoop?

"Josie, do you know what's happened on campus?" Cara exclaimed as she entered our apartment.

I was fortunate to secure an apartment near our college campus with my two best friends, Sasha and Cara. I was attempting to unpack my bag after a long day of college classes. Cara carelessly tossed her bag on the floor by the front door, causing all the contents to spill out.

"There are police officers everywhere!" I paused my unpacking and looked over my shoulder at Cara, who was now sprawled out on the sofa. "Saw several people being questioned." I glanced back and forth between her and our window.

"What campus building are you talking about?" I questioned her.

"I believe it was Amy and Hannah's." She said, causing me to frown my brows and pick up my phone from the table. Sasha had texted me, asking me to come down to Hannah's building as she was being questioned.

"We need to go now." I pulled Cara's arm and dragged her body off the sofa onto the floor. She groaned as her body hit the hard wooden floor.

After traversing the hallways, descending some stairs, and exiting the main building, we ultimately located Sasha. She stood with her arms crossed while conversing with two other girls from our squad. Although Sasha was never one to appear or act worried or frightened about anything, her face poorly concealed her fear.

"Sazzy." I said as we approached her from behind. She turned around, her blonde locks cascading over her shoulders. Sasha was the classic blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty; she had everyone falling at her feet. Her only problem was that she could never find THE ONE.

"Guys, Hannah dead." She held my left hand and Cara's right in hers as she informed us. The colour drained from my face, and my body turned cold. I could scarcely believe it.

"You're joking?" Cara smirked at Sasha. She shook her head in response and peered over her shoulder.

"They're about to bring out her body; they think she was murdered." I followed her gaze and saw police officers surrounding the main entrance. Within a few minutes, the body was brought out, and gasps erupted through the air. I don't think anyone believed it themselves.

"Damn." Cara covered her mouth as the body was moved into a van. "She's actually dead, like dead dead." I rolled my eyes and turned towards her.

"No shit Car, you saw the body?"

"Technically, we saw a white sheet; we did not see the body," Cara stated, presenting the facts and making a valid point. "How do you know that is even Hannah?" Cara questioned Sasha.

"I was questioned by those police officers about Hannah; they wanted to know how I knew her." I was still confused as to why she was even questioned.

"The police got my name from Amy; I mean, Hannah was my class project partner, and she is on the cheer squad."

"Yes, but so are we?" I pointed at Cara and myself. "Are they going to question us? Because I'd hate to tell you, but I look a little suss when they find out she was having sex with my boyfriend."

"They never got to that base, and he's your ex-boyfriend." Yet again, Cara is stating more pointless facts.

"Thank you for clarifying that, Detective Diaz!" I said, rolling my eyes once more.
