Violet Ford was messed up. After her family's death she and her father were the only ones left. It hurt to see family or friends, but they always did.
When Violet and Abraham met a man with a solution to it all they obviously couldn't not help him. Along the way to Washington they met lots of people, good and bad ones. All of them, except Eugene, Rosita, Abraham and Violet herself, had died. All of their friends were gone.
They still had something to life for, helping stop it all. Being a part of the group that would return the world to it's old glory. Because you were never save in a world where walking corpses ruled.
