Loud, slurred screams heard throughout the club. The deficient man had only been sat there for 10 maybe 20 minutes and was already wasted.

There he sat screaming his splintered heart out to the song playing though the speakers. Whenever the music paused slightly he took multiple sips of his beer sat on the bar counter infront of him.

The next song came on and the cicle repeated over and over. That is until seven similar aged men came over to him, some sat on the empty stools and others stood near.

They bought themselves each their own drinks and bought the lone man a refill.

One man that happened to be sat to his right queried about a bet, of which who ever loses was to be dared to jump into the lake out the back. Confidently, all other seven men agreed. The bet was to see who could down their drink the fastest.

All eight of the hunks sat up ready for the countdown. On 1 they all tipped their cups up and let their heads roll back slowly. First down was the guy stood directly behind the guy who offered the bet. Last, however, the original guy had finished 2 seconds after 7th place who sat to his left.

They congratulated the winner and all gathered round to head to the lake.

As they stumbled further away from the club the music got quieter and quieter till it was only a background noise behind the wind and distant animals hidden between the trees surrounding the lake.

Eventually, they all reach the great dark azure lake. On a ledge, extending out above the deep, way up high, stood the 8 men waiting for something to happen.

The initial guy, sat on the very edge, contemplating whether or not he should really jump in.

Without a second thought, he jumped up and threw himself in, too out of it to even take anything off and going in fully clothed. Falling for six dreadful long seconds. SPLASH!

SPLASH!
SPLASH!
SPLASH!
SPLASH!
SPLASH!
SPLASH!
SPLASH!

Following, they all jumped in.

Popping their heads up out of the water, they all laugh, thick and soiled with alcohol.

One of the guys swims over to the first guy and dunks his head under the water before he could get the chance to even take a breath of air. Three of his mates came over and helped keep him undertow.

They were slowly drowning him.

Very, very slowly.

Muffled screams were heard, from the other guys trying to convince them to stop, and they also came inside bubbles ontop of the water, trapped pleads for help and for it to stop from the man falling to the bottom of the lake with no air to keep him afloat anymore.

One guy in the back crying, wondering what the heck had just happened. Another being held back from trying to stop them and help the weak man. One of the men responsible stared down at his now not so innocent hands. Reflecting on what he and his close friends had just committed. The other two stood there silently, not realising what they had actually done and thinking nothing of it whatsoever.

Unknown by all seven of them, the club had heard the commotion out back. Crowds of groups of pairs of people stumbled outside. Although, all they happened to see was seven middle aged men stood drenched in the lake, they had suspicions. I mean, where had the 8th guy disappeared to?

Sirens, were heard in the distance. Getting closer and closer by the seconds.

Soon enough five police cars turned up. The four men not involved were first out the lake and were questioned. Confessed. The other three cuffed. Still refusing what they did. The police officers however,

"keep your hopes up high and your heads down low. "

But would they even look back and think of him?
