Chapter 13 | I Love You

Start from the beginning

"No, she doesn't you fucking asshole and besides you have a wife."

And Adrian said in the most nonchalant way ever, "Who says I can't get a second wife?"

"Get the fuck out of my house, right now!" Sorin growled.

"Oh, I am going to. It's such an ugly looking place." He was fueling his anger. He should definitely leave now.

"B-bye, Adrian..." I spoke in a low voice hoping he would leave.

He smiled at me sweetly. "Bye, Drea...I'll see you tomorrow." And he left much to my relief.

I glanced up at Sorin who was still glaring at Adrian's retreating figure but there was this emotion in his eyes, beside the anger. Sadness swirled in his eyes.

A few seconds later, when he was out of his sight, he blinked a couple of times and looked down at me yet again caught me staring at him.

"W-were...were you guys...friends...?" I asked hesitantly.

His features softened. "Were." He emphasised.

"What happened?"

"You should sleep, it's getting late." And like that, he dismissed my question and walked towards the direction of his study.

I will ask Adrian instead.

As it turned out, it was more difficult to get answers out of Adrian.

He just sipped on his iced latte through the straw, looking here and there, avoiding my question.

My shift was almost over so I called him over to talk to him.

"Adrian, tell me...I am very curious."

With the straw still in his mouth, he said in a muffled voice, "Tell you what?"

"Are you serious? I just asked you what happened between Sorin and you? Sorin said that you were friends."

"I don't know how to explain to you..." He finally stopped drinking.

"Was it your mistake or Sorin's?"

"Mine." He didn't hesitate to answer. "I...just cut him off from my life...and that's why he is angry about it..."

"Why? What happened?" I know I shouldn't pry into their private life but I was damn curious at the moment.

Adrian stared at the table, a distant look in his eyes. "Something..."

So, he doesn't want to tell me. Let it be, I shouldn't force him if he is uncomfortable in telling me.

I asked instead, "You remember when I saw Sorin years back in that park and I asked you who he was, you knew him because he used to be your friend?"

"Yes."

"Oh..."

He hummed and then wondered. "Where's Atlas by the way?"

I shrugged. "He didn't come today, said he was not feeling well."

"Oh, okay."

I still had to ask Atlas if he knew who I was exactly from the beginning because it will hurt if he gave me this job just because I was Sorin's Zaveri's wife. And I don't want to ask that over a text.

Later, Adrian dropped me off at the house, just at the main gate saying he doesn't want Sorin to get angry again.

But when I went inside, Sorin wasn't there. Maybe he will be late today.

I started preparing dinner instead, spaghetti in white sauce. He won't eat it again but I am not giving up yet.

Just as I was finished cooking and was setting the table, the front door beeped and Sorin walked in.
