Chapter 1

Response

When I saw my image in the mirror, my lips curved up into a huge smile, only to turn into a pout. They say smiles can make you earn friends. It gives out the energy that you are approachable and easy to vibe with. In fact, I have lots of friends back in the city.

The only reason why we left the city was it's chaotic. At magastos ding manirahan doon. I am not against living here since there's a nearby city I could go whenever I wanna look around.

During summer, we took the chance to tour around the province. It was actually fun. The province is surrounded by beaches as well as forests. It feels like I had my vacation in hawaii and made me committed to nature. Meron ding lagoon sa Baggao, a town here, which we trecked only to see the blue waters and a cave.

"Jiji! Kanina ka pa hinihintay ng papa mo!" I heard my mother screaming downstairs.

"Opo, bababa na!" sigaw ko pabalik.

I looked at myself last time in the mirror. My short hair bounces heavily with the small move I make. I tucked my curtain bangs behind my ears. Bumaba ang tingin ko sa aking suot. The uniform isn't bad since my father enrolled me in a private school here. It's a skirt and a white polo with a dark blue tie.

It's our school opening today. I am confident I can make friends in instant.

It's a new place and new people to meet.

Who knows what will happen, right?

Judging the way she opened the drawers reluctantly made me assumed she's looking for batteries for her mixer machine when she's baking.

We have our own small bakery in front of our up and down house. My mom founded this by her own. Papa wants to help but mama refused kaya ang dapat na tulong lang ay naging invest na lang ni papa para patas daw.

I blew out some air. There is no need to ask her what she's looking for.

"The batteries are in the living room, Ma. Nasa vase ng plastic na flowers." I said.

Agad siyang napatingin saakin at humagikhik. I shook my head as I smiled back.

"Signs of aging," she uttered about herself, rolling her eyes.

My brow arched.

"You're just easy to read." I smirked.

She scoffed and begin to walk towards the living room. My eyes were glued at her when her steps halt when she looked back at me.

"And you're just like your papa, Najimi."

I waved my hand at her dismissing the thought that I am just like papa.

No way!

Even though it will take a lot of efforts to annoy a person like him.

"Don't make any troubles to your school ha!" I heard my mom's voice again as I closed the door.

Mama is older than papa. Although it feels as if their personalities swapped.
