"What?" I asked confused, feeling like I missed half the conversation.
"A time turner you idiot! If we had a time tuner we could go back and reverse what happend." He said excitedly.
"Dad for one where would you get a timer. Two it's illegal and three you can't change what happend as you might change the present. It can't be done. He is gone. You have to face it."
He took two steps towards me. "I do not. He can he saved. Your just too selfish to help. He was always better and smarter than you. You were always jealous of him."
I stepped away from him. "Don't you dare turn this on me! I loved him. But he is gone. He is never coming back. No matter how much we cry or wish it weren't so. He died. Let him rest in peace. He is with mum. He is gone Dad. And even thinking of reversing time is irresponsible and completly and utterly selfish of-"
There was an almight whack followed my searing pain on my left cheek. My dad stood with his hand raised ready to strike again when the door opened.
"What is going on?" A guard, the receptionist and Draco stepped into the room.
I held my cheek, trying not to cry. "Amos did you strike your daughter?" The lady gasped.
Draco stepped forward and pulled me into his arms. "She doesn't understand. She doesn't care. He is gone and I'm left with her," he looked at me in disgust.
"And for that you are extremely lucky!" Draco snapped.
My dad looked from me to Draco and back to me. Then his expression changed. As if he just realised what he had done. He looked at his raised hand and jumped dropping it back to his side and covering it with his other hand.
"Oh Merlin," he whispered. "Raelyn...I..." He stepped forward it I took step back further into Draco.
Pain flashed across my dads face. He then turned and began to pull the books off the shelf. The guard flicked his wand and my dad froze. He levitated him over and lay him down on his bed.
The lady tutted and called for a nurse who came in. "Again? Merlin everytime I think he is getting better."
"What's wrong with him?" I asked sniffing.
"It's an effect of drinking so much. He has done damage to his mental health. He has been having episodes of rage. He can even he violent," she muttered as she turned my cheek to get a getter look. "It won't bruise but I would say it will be a little tender for a while. And look at your eye! What happened?"
"Oh a prank pocket watch. Someone's idea of a joke. A painful one." I sighed.
"Those joke items are anything but funny." She shook her head.
"Are you alright?" Draco asked.
"I'll be fine. I had to see him and now I know he is in the best place and getting the help he clearly needs." I turned to face him. "We'd better go." He smiled and held out his hand for me to take.
We headed to the door. I stopped in the doorway and used my wand to conjure his Christmas present and card which I sat on his bedside table. I took one last look at him. It would be a while before I saw him again. But he was better off here.
Then we headed out, back along the corridor and downstairs with the receptionist following.
In the foyer, I turned to her. "I think it's obvious my father needs help. You said this was only temporary. How temporary? How soon do I have to find him somewhere else?"
She just smiled. "That's already taken care of." She looked to Draco.
"Draco Malfoy what did you do?" I raised my eyebrow at him.
He shoved his hands into his pockets and rolled back onto the balls of his feet. "Exactly what I told you I would. I read through the flyers. They were all for public residences. He wouldn't receive the level of care he needs. So I asked Mary here," she smiled at her.
Mary? What had he do? He must have worked his charm on the poor unsuspecting woman.
"And Mary gave me the name of a private home. St Oswalds for Elder Witches and Wizards. He is a little young to be a resident but I just made a substantial donation to them for a new wing for those patients like your father who need the best care."
"You did?" I gasped.
He flashed a grin. "Yip. One if the stipulants is that he gets a free place for the rest of his days in the best suite and receives the best care."
"You didn't have to do that." I whispered.
He just shrugged. "I'm rich. It didn't even put a tiny dent in my trust fund." He leaned in and whispered, "plus I reckon I can get good few sexual favours in return for this one."
"From my father?" I smirked. He nearly choked.
"Well we will be in touch with St. Oswalds and when his room is ready I will let you know." The receptionist smiled.
"Thank you so much. And Merry Christmas." I called as we headed out.
And the end of their driveway, Draco wrapped his arms around me to apparate home.
"I cannot thank you enough for what you did for my father. He doesn't deserve it."
"After what he did to you? No he doesn't. But he is your father. Maybe one day even my father-in-law." He smirked.
I laughed but kissed him. "Take me home Drcao."
