"Well you wouldn't need to be here if you hadn't drank half of London dry. Don't blame anyone else for your problems dad. You got yourself into this mess and you have it in you to get yourself out. You're just too miserable and stubborn to do it." I snapped allowing rage to fill me up.
"Why should I? What's waiting for me on the outside? An empty house with no family. No job and no one who cares." He looked miserable but I had no sympathy.
"Actually you still have someone who cares." I crossed my arms as I stood by his window.
The home actually had quite pretty gardens. Especially covered in snow. His room wasn't exactly plain either. Along with his rather large bed was a comfy armchair and a writing desk. He had plenty of books stacked on a bookshelf. There was a chess set against the back wall and a fish tank.
There was another awkward silence. I racked my brains to try and think of something to say. I wondered over to the bookcase. "Have you been reading?"
He looked up and noticed me tracing my fingers along the books spines. "Not much else to do so yeah. Actually it's not too bad."
"What are you currently reading?" I asked.
He motioned to his nightstand next to his bed. I walked across and gave a smile. "Little Women?" I asked.
"Well you and your mother always talked about it so I decided to see what the fuss was about. I'm only on chapter 3." He shifted his weight on the bed.
"You must let me know what you think." More awkward silence.
"How is school going?" He asked clearly running out of things to say.
"Good. I graduate in June. My best subject is Potions." I smiled.
"Cedric was always great at Defence Against The Dark Arts. He would have got top marks in his Newts and been the best Auror."
My lip wobbled. "I know he would have."
"He was top of his class. Captain of the Quidditch team and he was on his final grade of piano and guitar. So talented my boy was." He looked off into the distance. "That's why he was chosen as Hogwarts Champion. He was the best."
"Yes he was." I agreed.
"It's a tragedy what happened to him. I've had plenty of time to think about it and if Harry had not entered the tournament he would have lived. If He Who Must Not Be Named had thought for a minute he would have killed Potter and not my boy."
"You can't say that. Harry defeated Riddle. Because of him we are at peace." I said shaking my head.
"I WILL NEVER BE AT PEACE! I LOST THE ONES I LOVE!" He bellowed. "There is no happy ending for me. Cedric's life was stolen and we need to save him!"
What the fuck is he on about?
"Save who?" I asked
"Your brother of course! He needs to be rescued." My dad said desperately.
"Dad Cedric is dead. He's not coming back." I said in a low voice.
This is too painful.
"Don't you dare say that. We can save him." He leaned over me grabbing my arm.
"How? We can't change what happend? If I could turn back time I would but I can't." He froze. Half off the bed. He looked ahead but his eyes darted back and forth.
"That's it!" He gasped.
Now what?
"We can change it. Change his fate."
