What Ifs

"Are you fucking serious?" Draco shouted.

I covered his mouth. "Shush! Yes, I am. We didn't though. Neville Longbottom straight up refused and they kicked the shit out of him. We pretended and made the first years act like they were in pain, screaming and rolling around on the floor."

"Tell them about your potion!" Theo urged.

"I made a potion for everyone. Only lasted about 30 minutes but it had a numbing effect. You drank it and you didn't feel pain. I used to sneak out at night to Slughorn's lab and brew it. When he caught me, he actually helped me to make it. Said it was amazing stuff. Any student that got a detention or was heading to DADA got a vial."

"That is genius!" Draco smiled and hugged me to show he was proud. 

"Thanks. Worked for ages until I had to disappear -"

"You had to what?" Azaleah gasped.

I rolled my eyes. "Well, one of the older Slytherins figured out what was going on and told them. Even told them it was me brewing it but Cho Chang overheard and came to tell me. Just in the nick of time. Her, Seamus, Ginny, Lavender Brown and Neville all came to my room and helped me pack everything I needed and I moved to the Room of Requirement. I didn't go to class after that but stayed in the room, day and night."

"By yourself?" Draco asked.

I scoffed. "No there were plenty of students there. We practised our DA training and brewed the potions that were used during the battle to save lives."

"Wow!" Azaleah sighed patting Bleu who was curled up in her knee. "All Draco and I did was read. Then when Theo came back, we were both sent to America."

"She is quite the hero, your girl Draco," Theo smirked. 

"So I heard. I'm very proud of her." He kissed the top of my head.

"I'm sorry you were alone Raelyn," Azaleah said.

I shook my head and smiled at her. "Na it was fine. It made it easier. Being alone. Teeny was in Ireland and I knew she was safe. You were at Malfoy Manor and you always said how Mrs Malfoy was kind so I knew she would keep you safe as much as she could. And Theo was with you. If you were with me, you would have been in danger. I was glad you weren't there."

"And then how did Teeny get to the battle?" Draco asked. 

"That I have no clue about. I was in the Room Of Requirement when Harry arrived and we all headed down to the hall with him. When the battle began I was getting supplies from the passage that was conjured which led to St. Mungo's and setting up a triage in the hall. Then all of a sudden she was in the entryway and saying she was here to fight." It was as if she appeared out of thin air. 

"Strange. If she was in Ireland how did she get back so quickly?" Theo wondered aloud. 

"Portkey?" Draco offered.

"Possibly but she was meant to be with her family who are all muggles. How did she get a portkey?" Azaleah said.

"And it's too far to apparate," I added.

"It is strange," Theo said. 

"Nothing about that battle made sense," Azaleah muttered.

"What do you mean?" I looked over at her to see her blush. It was clear she didn't mean for anyone to hear her. She mentally debated what to say before answering me.

"Well, it's just that. So many lives were lost that night. Spells were flying everywhere and it was hard to see who was casting what. I saw Ron Weasley shoot a spell backwards and send Pavarti flying into a statue. He wasn't aiming for her obviously but he didn't stop to aim properly." She began to play with her hands nervously. "I remember thinking afterwards while in Azkaban. Why didn't Dumbledore warn us? He knew we were heading for a war so why did he not prepare us? I think as soon as HE came back we should have been battle prepping."
