November hates planes. She hates everything about them, and every time she gets on one she's reminded why.
For some reason, she gets bad ear barotrauma, or airplane ear. Which means, in the most basic sense, that feeling of your ears being clogged in an airplane. For her, this causes pain as well. She hadn't flown in a couple years, but this was a special case that was worth it.
Well, that she hoped would be worth it, at least.
The flight was around six hours, but she spent the majority of it listening to music and writing recipes. Her love of everything cooking and food was the only thing distracting her from this hell she was put through.
As part of their agreement, November texted Hailey when she landed, totally not ready for it to be broad daylight despite the fact that it's five o' clock. With as much time as she spent on that plane, she expected and wanted darkness.
Popping at least four pieces of gum in her mouth, and grabbing her luggage, she left the airport. She had been standing outside for over ten minutes in the heat waiting for her ride to arrive when she realized something.
"Fuck!" She sighed, then glancing to the side to see an offended mother and a little girl. She gave them an embarrassed look and sighed again. This time quieter.
She had never told the boys she landed. Quickly, she texted Charlie and he replied with the fact that he was already on his way.
It only took twenty minutes for the car to pull up, and a window rolled down. Sitting in the passenger seat was no other than Charlie. He grinned, "Ember!"
She grinned back, joy obvious in her voice, "Hey, Charlie." She leaned forwards a bit to see who was driving, "Hey, Ted."
Ted smiled, "Hello, Ember."
"When Charlie said he was on his way I was expecting just him." She commented, opening the car door and hopping in the back with her luggage.
Ted looked at her through the mirror, "Did you really think we'd let just Charlie drive to get you?"
She laughed, remembering their jokes about how Charlie couldn't drive for shit.
They spent the ride talking and making jokes, before all of a sudden Charlie commented, "Wait, I thought you had long hair?" He said, confused.
"Nah, I just wear extensions a lot. I decided not to wear them on the plane though." She answered, "Even though I'm good at it, it's still a hassle and I want to get to bed as soon as possible. Planes are the worst."
The second thing she hated was not being able to fall alseep even when she's tired. And time zone changes worsen her insomnia.
When they got to the house, she look it over in sloght awe. It was rather large, not too grand, but definitely modern. It was clear cut, with large windows and chestnut wood color matching with the white very well. The plants outside were very green, and there was tall grass bushes that wouldn't be considered a bush not grass.
The boys burst out the door as the car pulled into the driveway. As November got out, they swarmed her. She didn't know how to react as they greeted her all at once.
Of course, there was one person standing behond the rest of them, and Ted noticed. He gave his a friend a confused look, but he didn't make eye contact.
November finally finished saying hi to them and making jokes, she saw him. It was like the boys parted just to make a clear path for him. She gulped, forcing her hands to stop shaking. The inside of her cheek may as well have started bleeding that instant from how hard her teeth gnawled into it.
She couldn't even look at him. He motioned to say hi, but she just walked on past like he wasn't even there. Like he didn't exist. If she looked at him, she may have just burst out in tears.
He knew right then that she remembered. She remembered him and what he did. His heart ached. All these years he had tried to convince himself that he had done nothing wrong, yet standing there, seeing her face, he knew he couldn't have been more wrong.
And the last thing she hated about this trip?
