Warning: angsty stuff.

As the colour gang eats the breakfast blue had prepared for them second notices something off.

"Where's yellow?" He asks, in between bites of toast. Almost as if on cue yellow walks into the kitchen, he grabs a coffee mug and makes himself a cup.

"Yellow do you want any breakfast? I made toast" blue asks, after taking the last sip of tea from his cup.

"No, thank you." Yellow responds, his voice sounding more tired then he looked. "I'll be in my room if anyone needs me." He added, grabbing the cup of coffee. The other sticks know exactly what this means. Yellow has a habit of locking himself in his room for days designing new redstone contraptions. The sticks also know that once he gets to his room, he's not coming out.

"Do you wanna go on a walk first? We could go feed the ducks like we planned!" Red asked cheerily. They had indeed planned to go feed the ducks at a nearby pond sometime. Plus, yellow did usually say yes to reds requests to go on a walk. It's good for clearing his head, he would say. But unfortunately he seemed determined to get back to his room.

"Maybe another time, red." He replied, already walking down to his room at the end of the hall and flipping over a sign on the door from "knock if you want to come in" to "please do not disturb unless in case of emergency" the sign didn't do much but it was a habit of yellows to flip it when he knew he would not want be disturbed.

"Damn, thought that would work." Red said aloud to himself. They all had ways to get him out if his room, reds being the most effective of the group. Disappointed, red finished his toast and went out the back door into the garden. Blue followed soon after, eating the last of his food before joining the other outside. Blue and red would often garden together on uneventful days, making the hours seem to melt away. As second went upstairs to get changed out of his pyjamas, green went up to his room and started to play music. A normal day for the sticks.

A few hours later red and blue decide to have lunch. As they're standing in the kitchen contemplating what to eat, red comes up with an idea.

"A picnic? I suppose we could, it is a beautiful day." Blue thought about the idea for a moment longer then added, "let's do it, it'd be nice to go out with everyone for a bit." Red was ecstatic that he agreed, it was the perfect day for a picnic after all. As blue prepared the food, red went upstairs to ask the others to join. Both green and second agreed to the plan almost immediately, but yellow took a bit longer to agree. He initially politely declined the offer, but red pulled a face yellow couldn't say no to. It was decided, they where all going on a picnic.

They decided to picnic near the lake with the ducks yellow and red had planned to go to. It wasn't far, so they walked the way there. For awhile the walked in quiet, taking in the sounds of the forest. Green decided to put on some music to listen to while they walked. still they walked in silence, the only sounds coming from deep in the forest and the sounds of greens phone playing music. It was comfortable silence, the kind you only get from people who you have known for most of your life and treat like family. As they arrive at the picnic spot, red breaks the silence.

"I'll set up the blanket and food, you guys go feed the ducks." He said happily.

"You're the one that wants to feed the ducks, I'll set up the picnic." Yellow responded in disbelief. Red passing up an opportunity to hang out with animals? That wasn't like him.

"Well.." red said, sounding unsure. "Alright.." in truth red had wanted to feed the ducks, but he wanted yellow to not work for a bit and relax more. The sticks went over to the pond, leaving yellow behind to set up the picnic. This sent relief through yellow, to see the others enjoying themselves. He loved to see them happy, and would do what he could to let them relax.

After yellow set up the picnic, he sat on the blanket and started to draw various ideas for things to do with redstone. He was so engulfed in this ideas he didn't even notice the others finish feeding the ducks and come over to him until red shook a hand in front of his face, making him jump and drop the book he had been drawing in.

He quickly picked it up and put it in his bag, the others didn't seem to notice. They ate their lunches and chatted with each other, everyone but yellow. He preferred to listen to his thoughts, though occasionally one if the others would ask him a question and he'd have to quickly abandon his thoughts to respond. Eventually he got up and excuses himself.

"I will be right back" he told them, before disappearing into the forest. The others where suspicious of this, yellow never left randomly like that. Red decided to see what was going on.

"Im going to follow him." Red told the others, who nodded. Yellow didn't open up much, even to his own siblings. They always wondered what went on inside his brain, apart from constant redstone ideas. Red went the same direction yellow had, deep into the forest. The sunlight was blocked from the part of the forest yellow had wandered into. It sent chills down reds spine, partly because of the sudden darkness and partly because it was much older here. Red walked for a bit, looking for yellow. He heard something in the distance, coming from behind a tree. It sounded like crying. Red slowly walked over, careful not to make any noise. Ashe got closer, he started to recognize the cry. It was yellow. Sitting there with his knees scrunched up to his chest and his head resting on them. Yellow was crying, not a loud cry. It was the quietest cry red had ever heard.

"Yellow?" Red inquired, almost expecting it to not actually be him. He failed to keep his voice form shaking. The yellow stick figure turned to look at him and almost immediately stopped crying. All was quiet for awhile, not even the forest made sounds of life. Red spoke again, "yellow what's wrong?" His voice shakier then before, seeing his older brother cry made him feel like crying himself. Before yellow could respond red hugged him from one side. After no reply again, red spoke a third time. "Tell me what's wrong." This time, the shaken mess of yellow responded.

"Do you ever feel, useless?" His voice was barely audible, yet understood every word. Red nodded in response to yellow's question. "Is it okay to feel useless, all the time?" Yellow continued, still speaking barely enough to be heard.

"Of course it is, your feelings are valid yellow." Red responded, patting yellows head. "May I ask why you feel that way?" He continued, speaking in a soft tone.

"I.." yellow struggled to come up with the words, but eventually they came pouring out. "I feel like I don't belong in the group! I feel like I'm just a burden you hang on to because you have to!" Red was quiet for a moment.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" Red replied. Yellow nodded in response. So they sat there, talking about why yellow felt so alone all the time. When they where done, yellow gave red a weak smile.

"Thank you.." yellow whispered, "for listening.."

"That's what siblings are for." Red responded, leaning on yellows shoulder. "I'm glad you decided to open up more. That takes real courage." He added. "We should go back to the others." He reminded yellow, starting to get up. Yellow nodded in response, and was helped up by red. They started their way back to the others, hoping it hadn't been to long.

As they approached the picnic spot they saw the sun setting, the colours beautiful in the sky. When the others saw them, they ran over and tackled them into hugs.

"Where were you?! You had us worried sick!" Second asked, concerned for his brothers. Red explained the situation to them, while yellow covered his ears. He didn't want to hear his words about himself again.

Suddenly yellow was being hugged by three sets of arms. For the first time in years, he cried in front of all of them. Quickly drying away his own tears, yellow mentioned that they needed to get back to the house before dark. So they did, quickly packing up and getting home. Yellow tried to escape to his room, but was stopped by second. "We're not done talking about this." He said, as he dragged him to the living room. They started to talk about what had happened more in detail, but soon yellow's tiredness caught up to him and he was fast asleep. He wasn't better, but he had his friends to help him through it all, all that was all he needed to drift off into a deep slumber.
