8th String: Hard-headed

Start from the beginning

I heard a few gasps and a few whispers. Most of them just looked at me incredulously. I just flashed them my most dashing grin. Huh. Charming. I therefore conclude that I am crazy while in my drunken state. No matter, it feels really great being this carefree. It's worth getting crazy. I needed to wind down once in a while anyway.

"Damn... this guy's a nut case!"

"That was sadistic! Is this guy torturing people?"

I turned to the girl who said that and pouted. "I don't torture people! I'm just drunk. How could you say that? It's rude."

She gaped at me and blushed. "S-sorry..."

I just grinned at her, planning to mess around more. And that's when I felt bile at the back of my throat. It didn't come out yet, but soon it will. I needed to get home already. I turned to the girl again and thought of something. Ooh, good plan.

I walked to where she was standing and smiled at her. She looked at me and blushed again. I held my hand out to her, inviting her to hold it. I didn't know what came over me, I felt like I could charm everyone if I wanted to, and I absolutely needed a ride.

"it's okay. But I haven't forgiven you yet. If you give me a ride, I will."

She just looked at me and then at her friend. She seemed hesitant. Now now, we couldn't have that. I just might lose my ride home.

I smiled at her and took her hand gently. I don't know why, but even touching someone felt wrong. I wanted to let go and bolt outside then and there, but I have to have someone to drive me home. I can't drive in my current state... unless I want to be buried underground for the rest of my body's existence.

"Please?"

She sighed and nodded nervously, biting her lip. "Okay... But promise me something."

I pulled her outside the bar and looked at her, still walking. "Hm? And what might that be?"

"Um... please don't do anything bad to me?"

I frowned at her. Why did everyone think I'm dangerous? Just because I threw a shot glass at the bartender? Well, in my defense, I am drunk. Like I could control myself. This was actually only my third time getting drunk. I'm actually really lucky I didn't pass out.

She bit her lip again and looked around. Anywhere but me. What, did she think I was offended? I just laughed at her. "Don't worry, I'm not some rapist. I just really need to go back home."

She let out a sigh and gave me a smile. "Thank god, I thought you were gonna kidnap me or something. Okay, so let's go."

She went to a red sports car and entered. Huh. It's quite rare seeing a girl driving a sports car. Hm, weird. I just opened the door and sat on the back seat.

She started pulling the car out of the parking lot and once we were outside, she asked me, "So...where is this home of yours?"

"Mountainville University."

She looked at me as if I just said something unbelievable, which I only laughed at. "I know what you're thinking. Nope, I'm not some billionaire's son, I just happen to have a father who works there as a teacher and well... kinda rich..but not a multimillionaire kind of rich. Just average, not too rich, nor too poor."

"Wow... really?! I wish I could go there, too... you know, I heard the facilities there are totally awesome! High class, and uh... how do I say this... hmm... rich-ey. Yeah, that." She pointed out while I snickered again, making her scowl at me. "What?"

Her scowl just made me laugh louder. And once I calmed down, I said, "Like, really? Rich-ey? That's not even a word."

She smirked and crossed her arms. "And that was not the least bit funny, too. It wasn't laughable. You are. In your drunken state."
