The wheels of your cart squeal as you turn a corner into a new isle. The fresh produce was layed out in front of you, slightly damp from the sprinklers above them, used to keep them fresh. You stop in front of the tomatoes, hovering your hand over them, trying to decide which ones to pick. You grab a few and observe them for any impurities. After a moment, you decide on a few that are good enough and move on to the next item on your list.
When you arrive at the checkout, the lanes are empty aside from a few people, along with a couple androids.
Expected, it is relatively early in the morning. You decide on a lane with a man who's almost done checking out all his grocerys. As you're loading your grocerys onto the conveyor, the man in front of you begins to yell at the android cashier.
"You dumb fucking android. I said I have some coupons. Do your job and add them on." The man shoves a few pieces of paper in the androids face.
"Sir, I already tried. Unfortunately you coupons have ex-" before he could finish his sentence, the man interrupted.
"Stupid technology, I swear. I'd rather be served by a real human being." The androids LED lit up yellow briefly before changing back to blue. The man scoffs, giving up on the coupons, and pays. You step forward and the cashier begins to ring up your grocerys.
The android has a blank stare. "Hows your day going so far" you give the android a smile as you say this. The android looks at you confused for a moment but then smiles back.
"Its good. Hows your day so far (sir/ma'am/mx)" the android replies. you continue friendly chatting with the android as he goes through your grocerys. An old lady who is behind you in line gives you a side glare, slightly shaking her head in some sort of disapproval. A lot of people could care less about the androids that do the work around the city, so you got these types of looks often. You dont really understand treating androids like trash, or hating them. Unless it's a special case, such as Hank. They act so similar to humans, it feels inhumane to you. Even so, if it was a person that was serving that man from before, he most likely would have yelled anyway. People suck.
You pay for your grocerys and leave the store, heading to your car. You head home to drop off your grocerys before heading into work. You still needed to grab your badge and firearm anyway.
After dropping everything off, you get to the station and head to grab a cup of coffee before going to your desk. It's better to get it now then later, it gets swarmed pretty quick in the morning. Once at your desk, you turn your terminal on and at least pretend to work. You were trying not to show it, but you were exhausted. Last night gave you no rest at all, which is the only reason you were able to pick up grocerys before heading into work. You take a sip of coffee, scanning the room. A new face you'd never seen before was sitting near Hanks desk. His body was turned away from you, so you could only see the left side of his face, his left arm and his back. He was admiring Hanks belongings, examining them. You werent usually one to strike up conversation with strangers, but this guy seemed..well interesting. He intrigued you. His side profile was incredibly handsome, and his posture was perfect. He seemed like he held himself together quite well just from the way he sat, looking through hanks things. He fixed his tie briefly before continuing what he was doing. You wanted to go speak with him, ask him a few questions but it made you nervous.
You shake your head, blinking rapidly.
How silly, you thought to yourself.
You cant get some stupid school girl crush on someone you've never seen until today.
You turn back to your terminal, attempting to actually begin to work this time, but you kept glancing over at the unknown individual. You wanted to know about him. Why was he at Hanks desk? Who was he? You decided to wait until more officers showed up then ask around and get some information.
After about an hour Gavin, who has a desk next to you, shows up. Since you'd been there, the man at Hanks desk hadn't left and was still waiting. You get up and walk beside Gavins desk.
"Hey Gavin, who's the newbie at Hanks desk?" You question, trying to seem less interested then you actually are.
"Him?" He points at the guy,"Oh didn't you hear, Hank got his own new plastic toy. Some android sent by Cyberlife to help with all those deviant cases. His names Chris or some shit. I dont really give a fuck."
You look back over at the guy. Hes an android? You couldnt tell from this angle at all. Hank walks into the office, heading for his desk. The guy at the desk stands up, greeting Hank. As he turns you see his LED on the right side of his head, along with the glowing blue band on his arm.
"Wait that's right, his name is Connor, I remember it now," Gavin exclaims, "He was at that investigation last night, the one where the android stabbed their owner 28 times."
"Hm..alright. Thanks," you walk back to your desk and sit down. You were also assigned with the deviant cases recently. There were so many that one officer alone couldnt take them, they'd be swamped. You were going to be working with Connor, which excited you. You stopped yourself with that thought.
Why am I still all giddy about getting to work with him and talk to him?
Although he was an android, he was still quite handsome. You decided that's probably why. He looks exactly like a person, so of course your brain would still feel how it did when you first set your gaze on him. You guessed you'd just have to try your best to ignore it.
Hank of all people getting an android was quite ironic. He wouldnt be able to stand having it as his partner for more then a day, max
Maybe if Hank cant stand him, he can be my partner instead. That'd be nice. You grab your jacket and walk over to Hanks desk, ready to tackle one of the cases.
