I Am Lacerta Chapter 53

Start from the beginning

I turned to Aoife. "You ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be.." she stated.

"Come on, I meant what I said - I won't make you kill anyone. Evangeline seems like a nice girl - get to know her and she'll get your back, 'k?"

"And if she doesn't?" Aoife asked quietly.

"Well, then that'll be one less person who's got it - 'cos you know that I got it." I said nudging her with my shoulder.

She nudged me back. "Thanks. I don't know what I'm so worried about..."

"Oh, you should be worried. It's not exactely easy... but I find this sort of stuff exciting - I'm not exactly normal..."

Aoife just looked paler than before. I sighed, and tried to change the conversation.

"So how'd you get so many people on such short notice? I'm impressed." I said and Aoife beamed.

"Well, I went straight to the Dark Lord, and no, I didn't forget to bow. He called all the other Death Eaters to him and he sent us off. OH! That reminds me - he said he might come and help out." Aoife said quickly. I nodded and thought my plan through again.

I looked up as we walked steathily and quickly towards where the others were no doubts waiting for us and saw that the sky was a dark grey - and still no one was around. It was eerily quiet... like I was missing something...

Finally we caught up and me and Lucius led the group into the middle of the street. I couldn't see any of the Order around, so I called out childishly:

"Cooeee! Anybody here!"

Suddenly a flash of light passed me and I blocked it easily.

"Now, now, you'll have to do better than that - I'm not your average thirteen-year-old, see. Come out and play.." I said laughing crazily, my eyes snapping from side-to-side. Aoife and Evangeline were back to back, which I was glad of, and Lucius looked slightly sick, but I ignored him and kept looking around for the Order.

Suddenly, everything exploded. Spells shot inches away from my head, I just ducked out of the way in time. I realised that my long, flowing hair was going to be a problem here, so I morphed it into a ponytail.

I stood up and faced a member of the Order. He had light brown hair with flecks of grey, indicating his age and his dark eyes looked determined. The scars across his cheeks were clearly due to his condition. All in all, I was looking into the face of Remus Lupin - ex-Professor of DADA.

"Hello Professor." I mocked, and slashed my wand through the air.

"Evening, Lacerta. How's mum?" he mocked, his teeth gritted. I let out a small shriek of outrage, and shot spell after spell at him, but he blocked easily.

I looked carefully at his face, and saw how tired he looked, then looked up at the sky and saw that the moon was almost full - in a couple of days he would transform. I looked straight into his eyes as we shot spell-after-spell at eachother, deflecting and attacking like a strange dance. His eyes flashed to his left when he heard a gasp of pain, and mine followed to see that my 'dear' cousin Nymphadora had been temporarily knocked off guard.

I smirked to myself, taking this temporary lapse of guard as my chance, and performed the same non-verbal spell I had before to Lara - and a werewolves howl sounded from behind Lupin. His eyes darkened and he turned in fear, whispering:

"Fenrir Greyback?", in complete fear - I guessed that greyback had bit him. I stunned him easily and was walking towards him, and was about to kill the stupid werewolf when a spell caught me off guard from the side, cutting a deep wound into my left arm.
