I Am Lacerta Chapter 34

I walked slowly back to Lee and George, unable to stop the tears from flowing down my face. I never should have given my heart away.. I thought angrily, scolding my stupidity. I must have looked a state, because when I found Lee and George they stopped talking at the sight of me.

"Hi." I said quietly, sitting down next to George.

"Uh.. hey. You, found him..?" George asked tentatively. I nodded ruefully.

I forced a laugh and said sharply, "Yeah. He was sucking your Quidditch Captain's face off. It's fine though, don't worry. How could I be so stupid.." I muttered to myself. I then placed a fake smile on my face and said in a cheery voice, "So, what did I miss?"

George didn't buy my facade at all and wiped a stray tear from my cheek, saying: "You're not stupid, Lacerta. And I'm so sorry-"

"Don't apologise for that scum you call a brother." I snapped scowling. Lee and George visibly flinched, and an awkward silence followed, which was broken by Lee.

"So, tell us the full story of how you got fired from the Quidditch team - I've been dying to know the story.." he said and I smiled and complied.

I stayed with them for a couple of hours, talking and messing about. We had a competition to see who could catch the most Bertie Botts' Every Flavour Beans in their mouth, which George was winning, until he started choking. I had shouted, "Anapneo!" quickly and he started coughing, the disgusting chalk flavoured bean hitting me square in the face.

That started an all out food fight, which ended abruptly when the door opened. I turned and the grin on my face was immediately replaced by a stony glare when I saw a sheepish looking Fred standing in the door way. He explained that he had come to talk about "business", what ever that meant.

I looked at the other two and Lee looked horror struck at the possibility of an arguement, while George was looking disappointedly at his brother.

I stood up taking that as my cue to leave. George grabbed my arm and said quietly;

"You don't have to leave, Lacerta." I smirked.

"Yeah, I kind of do. I have to change sometime don't I.. anyway I might see you around.. bye, George, Lee." I said nodding at each of the boys. George let go of my arm and I turned to leave. I didn't even look at Fred as I went to leave, but he grabbed my arm, not letting me continue through the door.

"Please, let me explain.." he said quietly, but I made to get out my wand, looking up at him.

"Don't touch me, Fred. Get out of my way. You don't want to make me angry.." I said menacingly quietly. He visibly flinched and his grip on my arm, and I yanked it back from him, before slamming out of the compartment. The door shut behind me and I heard George and Lee shouting at Fred. I smirked. At least they agree, I thought.

I walked all the way down the train to where the Slytherin's sit. I never really sat here before, I usually sit with Luna in one of the compartments. I looked around, but was unable to see either Flora or Hestia - they were probably off somewhere with a boy - when I saw a flash of white, at one of the tables and I walked over to where Draco was sitting.

"Hey, cousin. D'you mind if I sit here?" I asked and his slutty girl friend looked up at me before replying snootily:

"No. Go sit somewhere else you little freak. I haven't forgotten what happened last year.." she muttered in what she must have thought was a menacing voice.
