This is by no means the cheapest method but its a good way of recording your IOS screen.
In this method where using a capture card to record the screen, i know this works with the Elagto game capture HD and the Elgato game capture HD60 but im not sure about other capture cards. Also to be able to record your iDevice using the capture card you need a digital AV adapter. This connects to your iDevice and has a HDMI out port. If your iDevice has the old 3o pin connector then you need to buy the 30 pin to digital AV adapter which costs about £10 on Amazon if you have the new lighting connector you need to get the lighting to digital AV adapter which costs about £38 on Amazon (Prices fluctuate all the time so this may be wrong).
To record your iDevice using the capture card:
1. Plug your digital adapter into your iDevice
2. Plug on end of a HDMI cable into the digital AV adapter
3. Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the input slot of the capture card (the HDMI slot that says in)
4. Plug the use cable that comes with the the capture card into your computer and plug the other end into your capture card.
5. Run the Elgato game capture HD software
6. You should now see your iPad on screen!
7. If you don't click the settings button which looks like a cog in the top right of the screen
8. Click on the drop down menu that says input device
9. Select iPad (you can use this with iPhone or iPod just select other or you can select iPad it will still work)
10. If you still don't see your device on screen go to the help forums on the Elagto website.
Positives:
- You can record your voice as your record your iDevice
- If you have the Elagto game capture HD60 you can record in 60fps and in 1080p
Negatives:
- It may just be on my computer but the colour wasn't very good
- There's a black boarder round the recording it doesn't fit to the screen
(These may just be on my computer)
Overall this is a good method all though it's not cheap being able to record in 60fps at 1080p is really good! And it means you get to use your capture card even more.
