[Chapter 8]: A Sword Dripping In Scarlet

Start from the beginning

Drops of rain gently slid down her face, the winds embracing the woman with pure warmth, as if all the love in this world had accompanied her journey in the stairs of life. And yet...the contradicting apathetic expression that graced her face...

It was as if she was a lamp, with everyone surrounding her comparable to a naive moth, curious and attracted to the light that shone everso brightly in front of their eyes.

An inexplicable feeling flowed every vein in Ryomen Sukuna's body, from the strands of his hair down to his fingertips as unwavering curiosity choked this almighty curse. Like a shadow, it followed him, whispering words that tempted him to find out more about that girl. To fulfill the callings of desire that grasped tightly onto every part of his body, as he turned to leave the place, he placed a talisman on this woman, a talisman that held the special ability of connecting him to her. Like two threads, they were intertwined with eachother and grasping onto one another.

It was as if one had attached strings to this man. Like a marionette*, he was being controlled, controlled by an inexplicable voice inside of him, urging him toward her. As if his mind were enchanted completely, an indescribable urge formed inside of him.

The curse had no recollection of when the pool of values he grasped onto tightly in his hands began to spill out of that tight grip, nor when new thoughts or emotions invaded his mind. A man who'd kill all those who dared to enter his sight...had spared a life.

He couldn't grasp the reason as to why he went to such lengths for a mere human. Such thoughts continued overflowing his mind even as he went onto spilling more scarlet on his already blood-stained kimono.

Another massacre...another set of screams...

His fluttering hair dripped with the sweet-redness of blood, crimson not sparing a single part of his body as his long fingers pulled his hair backward, a frustrated expression upon his face. Yet, the emptiness in his heart couldn't be filled, no matter how such blood rained upon him, drenching his entirety.

As thoughts of that woman continued piling upon his mind, all of a sudden, his entirety throbbed in absolute pain, an excruciating feeling swallowing him, indicating that she was in danger. Ryomen Sukuna felt as if threads extented toward him, dominating his being as his normally stationary heart began to throb with a soft ache.

"Tch, what a pain..." he whispered under his breath, annoyance, as well as a contradicting expression upon his face as his body rushed to where he felt her wavering presence. The thought of flickering life, which was the reflection of a candle, being blown out filled him with an unpleasant feeling that couldn't be satiated no matter how many lives he stole.

His coral-pink hair fluttered ever so gently, his eyebrows slightly furrowed as his luminescent ruby eyes, resembling the crimson he spilled glistened in the moonlight. In a matter of a few seconds, as he raced against the strong winds that attempted to pull him backward, he found himself facing a minka* of boundless length that expanded into an endless distance.

The moonlight illuminated the curse's face gently, his pink hair drenched as harsh drops of rain fell upon him, sliding down his face. His kimono danced with the winds, the depiction of a deathly angel. An ethereal, dream-like beauty graced his entirety, yet his ominous presence filled all those who'd ever lay their eyes on him in absolute fear.

The King of Curses lightly exhaled as he stepped toward a wall a few paces to his right, the overgrown viridescent grass grasping his foot at his every footstep as if attempting to prevent him from walking toward that direction. He stopped at his place, lightly setting his hand on the wall as he glanced toward it, as if those ruby-like eyes held the ability to glance at the scene behind.

'Found you.'

In an instant, the entire wall was obliterated, the tiny pieces of debris crumbling away to reveal the inside that was carefully hidden away. The gentle light of the stars shone upon his face, the harsh winds swaying his coral-pink hair back and forth as his eyes looked down upon the two figures ahead of him.

Geto's disgusted expression immediately morphed, his eyes widened in absolute excitement, a grin gracing his face as he scoffed.

"Well well, isn't this quite unexpected?" he shrugged slightly as he looked over to the shivering figure on the floor.

(Y/n) glanced up toward the King of Curses, an inexplicable expression adorning his face. She flinched as her (e/c) eyes met his. She couldn't help but be immersed, the bright scarlet colour elegantly complimenting his swishing pink hair as his lips formed into a smirk.

(Y/n) swiftly turned her head, her hair swishing aside as she felt her cheeks heating up, her heartbeat resonating in the air as she grasped onto her chest.

Ba-dump Ba-dump.

The woman couldn't comprehend the reason as to why she felt this way whenever she was around the King of Curses. Yet, whenever she met eyes with this alluringly dangerous man...she couldn't help but feel as if she were melting away into sweet nothingness. It was a feeling that granted her absolute bliss, incomparable to the delicious food she savoured, or the tiny specks of kindness she received from those who pitied her. Embarrassment filled her veins as she bit her lip in order to calm herself down.

To (y/n), the King of Curses was like an intoxicating drug that released a sensation which had the potential to addict one. Though she could sense the danger he emitted, the woman couldn't help but be immersed, losing the will to stop taking the drug. The scenery was so entrancing that for a moment, she forgot of the shadow that loomed behind her, swallowing her entirety.

"You...yo...u...forget...me?"

Author's note: In case you guys weren't sure what these words meant, a marionette is a type of puppet that moves using strings and wires. Btw, A minka is basically a traditional Japanese house.
