It had been a week since the coffee encounter and I hadn't seen Aryan since then, mostly because I tried my hardest to avoid him at all costs. It helped that my cabin was a few levels below his so I didn't see him often. I doubled checked both sides before stepping out of the lift carefully like I had been doing for the past week. I swiftly moved to the front door and exited the building, constantly checking around for any signs of Aryan. Anyone watching me would think I was a criminal.

I let out a sigh once I closed my car door and Aman turned back to give me a strange look. "Just drive" He nodded politely and started making his way out of the parking lot. My car exited the parking lot just as another car entered it. I was already looking out of my window so I saw Aryan in the front seat of the other car and immediately ducked down. I prayed hard that he didn't see me and didn't get back onto my seat until we were far away from the office. Aman looked at me and I just told him, "Not. One. Word" and he kept driving in silence.

I plopped onto my seat on the dining table with a loud sigh causing my father to look up from his plate in concern. "Oh don't worry about it, just a little tired from work" I assured him I was alright and he brought his attention back to his food. "So how is work?" "Oh it's okay" You know besides the constant hide-and-seek game I've been playing with Aryan. "And what about Aryan?" I choked on my food when my dad took his name. It was as if he read my mind and knew I was thinking about him. "Ami what's wrong with you...here have some water" He poured some water in my glass and handed it to me.

I swallowed my food and and tapped my chest lightly to calm myself. My father patted my back and asked me, "Are you alright?" I nodded, "Yes thanks papa" I tried to focus back on the food and hopefully ignore my dad's question about Aryan but unfortunately he asked again. "So you didn't tell me, how's Aryan?" I shrugged and just said, "He's okay. I don't see him very often" Which is true. "Why?" I shrugged again to which my father replied, "He's probably very busy. Such a fine young man he is. Taking over the family business and expanding it. RCE has really blown the charts since he took over" If I didn't know any better, I would think my father was fanboying over Aryan but with good reason though. Papa was right, Aryan may have a questionable personality but he is very intellectual and excellent in his line of work.

"You should stay close to him" I looked my dad strangely. This was the man who would punch a boy if I so much as make eye contact with him but here he's asking me to get closer to Aryan. "I asked you to join RCE for a reason. It will give you experience and a career boost. Staying close to Aryan will allow you to learn a lot. He would be a good mentor" I knew my father had a point but I didn't want to be close to a person like Aryan. My father shook me from my thoughts when he held my hand lightly and said, "Do this for me will you" I didn't know why this was so important for him but it didn't matter. I would stop the world for my father if he asked me to.

The next morning, I walked into the office with more confidence. I figured if I actually do walk into Aryan I could apologise and clear the air but I didn't think I would actually walk into him...literally. "Ouch" I fell back a few steps once I collided with something hard. But when I looked at what I hit and saw a navy blue shirt, I realised it wasn't something, it was someone. I tilted my head up to see who it was and since I have the worst luck in the world, Aryan was standing in front of me with his hands in his pocket and a cold expression on his face. "Do you need glasses?" I shook my head at his question. "At least you didn't have coffee this time" He said as he pressed the elevator button. The door opened and I stepped in quickly right after Aryan, hoping this would be my chance to get close to him so that I can learn work from him.

There was silence in the lift besides the soft instrumental music that was playing through the speakers. Aryan stood beside me, his hands still in his pocket and his eyes planted onto the lift door. I scanned his facial features and was impressed, man had good looks but I immediately looked away when Aryan said, "Take a picture it will last longer" I mumbled a 'sorry' before the doors opened and it was my floor. "Well go" Aryan was getting impatient with me now. Screw it. "Do you think you could mentor me?" He looked at blankly as I continued, "My father thinks you're great at what you do and the whole reason he asked me to join RCE was because he wanted me to learn from you" Aryan paused for a moment and then pressed the lift button preventing the doors from closing, "I don't have time to babysit" and with that he asked me to exit the lift.

"What a dick!" I wanted to scream but I was in an office so I said it in a hushed scream once I reached my cabin. "I don't have time to babysit" I mimicked him in his tone. "Asshole" I jumped from my seat when I heard Layla's voice, "Uh oh who are you angry at?" I mumbled, "No one" and even though I knew she didn't buy it, she let it go. "I brought you coffee. Enjoy" I thanked her before she left my cabin. I couldn't believe Aryan. He was so rude and made me feel so embarrassed. I opened my computer to distract myself with work before I end up getting the urge to storm into his office to beat him senseless. Not that I could though, my father told me he has a black belt in Taekwondo and is trained in martial arts.

I was working through my emails when my laptop chimed indicating a new email. I went to check it and froze. Aryan just sent me an email regarding extra work for mentoring. Aha! Got to him didn't I. I smiled proudly until I read the full email and quickly realised I just messed with the wrong person. He gave me several huge tasks to do by the end of today and he mentioned that if I don't complete them on time, he would be done mentoring me. Fuck.
