"It's just you and I tonight. Why don't you figure my heart out..." Heart Out, the 1975

Calum's POV

Emma and I hadn't hung out since the studio party which was on Sunday and today is Wednesday. Monday was the first day in the past 3 weeks that we haven't hung out and it felt weird. Being away from her felt weird. She hasn't left my mind since the minute she left the studio that night, and in a rush as well. Everything felt so weird and it had only been 3 days. I decided it was time for me to call her and see when we could hang out soon.

The phone rang a couple times before there was finally an answer.

"Hello?" Emma said whispering.

"Hey Em, it's Cal," I said. Hearing her voice made me feel less anxious about not have seeing her. "Why are you whispering?

"I have a job remember silly?" She said with a little laugh in her voice. I couldn't help but laugh too. She was so cute.

"Oh, right. Well, I'll see you later?"

"Of course. Bye Cal," She said hanging up the phone. I grabbed my keys and put my wallet in my pocket.

"Mom, I'm going to get a smoothie, do you want anything?" I asked. She looked up from reading her book on the couch and shook her head no. With that, I left. The car ride there felt like it took forever even though the place was only 10 minutes away.

I finally pulled into the parking lot and saw Emma's fancy little car parked in the employee's only spot. I walked up to the counter and looked up to see Emma fiddling with the cash register.

"Hi, what can I," She stopped talking once she noticed it was me and began to laugh. "Calum, what are you doing here?"

"I haven't seen you all week! I just wanted to come say hi," I replied. She rolled her eyes at me.

"Calum, it's been 3 days. Calm down," She laughed playfully hitting my arm.

"Whatever," I said a little embarrassed. "What time are you off at?"

"7" I looked at my clock, it was just barely 6.

"Alright, I'll wait. Were going to do something afterwards," I said.

"I have school tomorrow," she said looking kind of upset.

"Oh, right." I was upset as well.

"It's okay though. It's one night right?" She looked right into my eyes and smiled.

"Are you sure? I don't want to get you in trouble."

"Dont worry about it. One night out won't hurt."

So I sat and waited while she did her job. I saw how everyone she worked with loved her and all the customers smiled when she did. I don't know what it was about her that made me feel the way that I do. I could be away from the guys for 2 weeks and not miss them as much as I missed Emma in the 3 days we haven't been together.

"Alright, I'm done," Emma said breaking me from looking at my phone. The time went by faster than I thought it would. I locked my phone and got up from my seat holding the door open for Emma.

"Bye everyone!" She said at her co-workers. 'Where are we going and who's car do you want to take?"

"Let's take mine, and were going somewhere fun," I said opening the car door for Emma. She smiled at me thanking me for holding the door.

"Somewhere fun? Any description?" She laughed.

"Nope. But somewhere fun. Do you have to be home at anytime?"

"Just before 12," She said. I nodded my head with a grin on my face. I was excited to bring her where we were going.

--------

"Cal, it's been almost 30 minutes, are we almost there?" She asked sounding tired. I pulled into a parking spot.

"We're here!" I said with a smile and pointing out the left window. Emma turned her head and I saw a surprised smile pull onto her face.

"Calum you're joking! You did not just bring us to a Sleeping with Sirens concert!" She hugged me tight and I hugged her back.

"Luke was stuck in the studio so he couldn't come with me and I know how much you love them so I thought 'hey, I'll being Emma!'"

"Thank you so much!"

"Well what are we waiting for?" I got out of the car and opened her car door and she pounced on her almost making me lose my balance. Once I was back on my feet, I fully hugged her back.

"Jesus Cal, you're like the best thing that has ever happened to me," she said with a huge smile on her face.

"I could say the same about you, Emma."

We were standing on the VIP balcony so fans weren't bugging me and Emma the whole time. The show was phenominal. Kellin Quinn killed it, as always.

"How are you enjoying it?" I said in Emma's ear.

"So good. Thank you," she replied into my ear. "But it's getting really stuffy. Can we go outside for a couple minutes?" I nodded my head and grabbed her hand leading her to a balcony outside. I sat down on a bench and patted the seat next to me to come sit.

"This made my shitty week 10 times better. I don't know how to thank you," She said resting her head on my shoulder.

"You don't have to repay me anything," I rested my head on top of her head. "Why has this week been bad?" I picked my head up and looked at her concerningly.

"Harry hasn't talked to me since the party. Usually he comes around but this time he hasn't." She looked down at the floor and was picking at her nails. I took her hands into my hands and looked at her into the eyes.

"He doesn't deserve you Emma. You are so good to him and he seems to get so hot with you all the time it isn't fair."

"I know it isn't, but i guess I deserve it. I have been a bad girlfriend lately. I don't know what is happening with me." She looked into my eyes. God, I wanted her so bad. I just wanted to take her into my arms and kiss her, which was obviously not the right thing to do.

"If I were you, I'd try talking to him first. Apologize about the party, and then talk about your relationship and how you can fix it." As much as I regretted saying those words, I wanted her to be happy, and he makes her so happy.

"You're right. Thank you for the advice once again," she said and a laughed a little bit. "We should go back in." She smiled at me. I nodded my head.

-----------

"That was one of the best concerts I have ever been to! They rocked it!" Emma said enthused. I couldn't help but laugh at how excited she was.

"It's 11:30. I should probably get you home," I said.

"No, not yet. I'm having fun. I don't want to go home yet." I smiled at her comment.

"Alright, well are you hungry? I'm starved." She nodded her head in agreement. "Let's go get some pancakes!"

"Breakfast for dinner?" she laughed.

"Why not?" I questioned with a smirk on my face.

"Okay!" She said still laughing. "I told my parents I was gonna be at Harry's for a project until early this morning so they don't get mad at me like they did like time"

"Good idea." We got in the car and drove to the nearest 24 hour diner, not to mention my favorite one.

I finally dropped Emma off at her house around 4:30 AM and began to drive home. The night went by like an entire year. After we ate breakfast for dinner we went up to the park where we first met and sat there for a couple hours just talking about life and school and people. She is so interesting. Everything about her is so wonderful and I haven't liked anybody this much since freshman year. Harry is so lucky to have her in his life, and he better be grateful and not let go of it.
