Chapter 15 - Part 1(:

There she laid. Lifeless, breathless, wrinkled, and at peace. It took all my might not to cry. I had to be strong for Aden, whose eyes where glazed with tears and at his breaking point. I didn’t want to cry in front of him like this, besides I could always cry later.

The funeral was long and sad. Everyone was now standing outside in the pouring rain as they were getting ready to lower his grandma into the ground.

Aden didn’t have a umbrella so the pouring rain soaked him and his clothes. I stood perfectly dry underneath a big black umbrella I was sharing with my mom who was holding Willow. I looked at Aden standing by himself and without much thought I left the dryness of the umbrella and walked over to Aden. I wrapped my arms around his stomach and rested my cheek on his chest. He was startled by me but placed his arm around my now soaking wet back. I could feel his body shake a little trying to keep away the tears that were trying to escape his eyes. Seeing Aden this vulnerable was eating me alive. What was gonna happen when he finds out that Shannon is being a b!tch and that all she really wants is to be popular by getting to Aden and dissing me for spending to much time with him! He was my friend FIRST, Before there was no Shannon, now there’s to much of her! And Aden really doesn’t deserve this stress on him now!

As the funeral came to an end, everyone slowly departures from the cemetery. Everyone is just about gone or walking out of the rain, except for Aden and me.

The rain hasn’t let up at all, in fact, its gotten harder and it started to thunder. I looked up a little to see Aden’s eyes tightly closed.

“Aden… want to get out of this rain?”

It takes him a minute to respond but he eventually nods his head. I pull away from him and take his hand and give it a little squeeze. He grabs a hold of mine tightly and pulls me towards the parking lot.

Once inside the car we were still dripping wet, which is making Aden’s comfy leather seats wet. I start to shiver as the cold air conditioner hits my soaked body and clothes.

Aden sees me shivering and pulls me close to him. Even if were both soaked. He reaches his hand into the back seat and pulls out a nicely folded, soft blue blanket with footballs and baseballs all over it. I smile. Cute.

He drapes the blanket over me and part of his self to keep us warm. I think about telling him about Shannon, but maybe its just not the right time… not today anyways.

The car home… is silent… a sad silence. I could hear Aden sniffling every now and then. Breaks my heart.

“SHE IS DOING WHAT?!” Aden yells slamming his fist into the gym lockers.

We managed to sneak back here to meet up so I could tell him what I had to say about Shannon. He deserved the right to know. So I told him how Shannon has been coming up to me ticked off for hanging out with him and how she used to like him but popularity caught up to her brain and now she could care less.
