AUDREY POV

The sun shone through the window. It was a beautiful morning.

However I had to share this wonderful moment all alone. As I turned to my side, I found the bed empty.

It was the weekend meaning Xavier wasn't working today.

I brushed my teeth and then changed.

I headed downstairs to Xavier's office but he wasn't there.

Luckily I came across Dorothy.

I smiled at her and decided to ask her if she'd seen Xavier.

"Have you seen Xavier?" I can't seem to find him."

He hadn't called me or left a message. So he couldn't be out.

"Mr. Kingston left in a hurry about an hour ago. It seemed like an urgent matter."

It couldn't be, or could it? Xavier had mentioned he was working with the police to catch the men who were trying to kill me.

Had he found them?

"Did he mention why he was leaving in such a hurry?"

"No, he just informed us to make sure your meals are served and to eat without him."

Was he not coming home at all today?

"Ok, thank you Dorothy."

I couldn’t help but worry about what was going on.

"It's my pleasure. I'm glad to see you and Xavier are doing better."

"Thank you. We got to talk things out and we're doing better than ever."

I was happy that at least we were doing great as a couple now.

My only concern was that he had finally caught those men and that he'd be in danger.

I had my breakfast as I tried to call Xavier.

Although each time it was the same. He wasn't answering.

I'd look for him but I didn’t even know where to look.

And given the fact I was in an accident not long ago, It was best I stay put.

Hours passed and Xavier still wouldn’t answer.

I tried to keep myself busy by watering the flowers in the garden and doing other activities. But even then, I couldn't help but hope Xavier would come home soon.

I was creating a million different scenarios and neither was good.

I just hoped all was ok.

I'd debated whether to call Caroline, but I didn't want to scare her. I didn’t even know what was going on with Xavier, so it was best not to alarm her.

Instead I opted to call my granny.

There was a lot we needed to discuss.

"Hello sweetheart, how are you doing?"

It felt good hearing her voice.

"I'm doing great granny."

I smiled. I missed my granny. She was like a mother to me.

"Actually there was something I wanted to discuss with you."

I think granny could hear the tone in my voice since she got worried.

"Is everything alright?" She asked.

"Yes. It's just that, well, Xavier told me everything, and I finally gained my memories back. I know now why you left New York."

She didn't say a word for a bit.

"I'm so sorry Audrey. Xavier and I just didn’t want to worry you. Especially since you had just gotten into an accident. And then you lost your memories, so I didn't want to add to your worries."

I could see she was genuinely sorry.

"It's alright granny. I'm not angry that you kept it a secret. I know you were just trying to take care of me."

I loved my granny and how selfless she was. I just hoped that once this mess was settled, she could come back to New York. I really missed her.

We talked for hours. Time no longer passed so slowly. But I still couldn’t help but worry about Xavier.

He still wouldn't answer his phone.

The sun had gone down and it was pretty late already.

I decided to go to bed. Although I knew It would be a struggle.

It was already one in the morning, when I heard a knock on the door.

My heart was beating fast with anticipation. Xavier was finally home.

I practically ran downstairs.

But when I opened the door I saw a person I hadn't expected to see in a very long time.
