The Rumor

"Miss Y/N!" I looked up to see my teacher standing in front of my desk, "Are you... doodling again?"
"Um... no." I tried to hide the page in my desk, but the teacher snatched it first.
"Honestly Princess, drawing is a normal thing to do, but of all things you draw these?" I had drawn a picture of the sacred swords that I had read about in the stories that Father had given me.
"I just... really like drawing weapons." I admitted.
"As the next ruler of the Western Kingdom of Camelot, it would be wise for you to either draw something that fits more to a princess, or just to pay attention in class." I put the picture away.
"Yes sir." I sighed. Usually the title 'Sir' would only go to knights, but teachers have an exception to be called that as well, especially those that work at the castle.
"Good. Now, the coordinate plane is in fact-" He dragged on about mathematics for the rest of the hour.

*time skip to 1 hour later*

I was patiently waiting for the clock to reach 2:00, so I could leave this room. Only 1 more minute left.
"And therefore, it is concluded that-" the clock reached 2:00 and went off, making the teacher sigh, "You are dismissed, Miss Y/N." I quickly grabbed my things and left the room, heading to mine. On my way there, I ran into one of my friends, B/F/N (best friend's name), who was the princess (for plot convenience, it has to be a girl) of the Southern Kingdom, who was visiting for several days.
"Hi B/F/N!" I said.
"Hi Y/N! How've you been?" B/F/N told me.
"I'm great, and you?" I asked.
"Same. Also Y/N, I have big news that I thought you might me interested in." This got my attention.
"What is it?"
"King Arthur is going to visit all the royal families of Camelot." This was shocking, but it excited me.
"Really? No kidding!"
"Yes." B/F/N knew how much I loved the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and was always sharing anything she knew/heard about them.
"And rumor has it that he's looking for a bride." B/F/N added.
"A bride?" I questioned, making sure that I heard her correctly.
"Yes he is. Isn't that so amazing?" B/F/N exclaimed.
"I'm... not that sure." This surprised B/F/N.
"What? But I thought that you loved King Arthur."
"I like the heroic deeds that he does for all of Camelot, but if I married anyone, it would be my choice of who is it. Plus, I don't even know what he looks like." I heard B/F/N chuckle.
"Who knows? Maybe he's handsome, and he'll pick one of us." B/F/N said dreamily. It was my turn to chuckle now.
"I doubt it he will pick either of us, or at least me. I mean, the other two kingdoms have fine princesses too. He'll probably pick one of them."
"Oh, don't be so hard on yourself. Your just as pretty as any other princess out there."
"Thanks, I guess. Come on, let's go to my room." We ran over to my room. When we got there, I showed her my drawings of the swords.
"Ooohh! They look so cool!" B/F/N exclaimed. We are pretty much the only princesses in our kingdoms who love the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
"Miss B/F/N." One of our knights was standing outside the room, "Your father requests that you go back to your kingdom soon. As you probably already, King Arthur is visiting the kingdoms, and he'll be at yours tomorrow."
"Awww." We both complained.
"Sorry Y/N. Bye." B/F/N headed to the door.
"No worries. Bye!" I waved 'goodbye' to her as the knight escorted her out. I lay on my bed, thinking about what B/F/N told me. I'll get to meet the real King Arthur and his knights! I exhaled, remembering the other part to his visit, before grinning. He probably won't pick me anyway... right?
