You were staying at the library, reading a book, until your attention was drawn to your phone. You were watching an old show again. The library was the only quiet place you could think of where no one could bother you, so you decided to stay for a moment to enjoy some peace.

You love it when your mind is peaceful and quiet too.

You rested your head against one arm while your other arm was slightly stretched out to hold your phone, so you could watch the sitcom you were watching. When a hilarious scene was shown, you flashed a smile. For you, everything was going swimmingly.

"I'm starting to think you're obsessed with sitcoms, Newbie."

You jumped in surprise and squeaked before slamming your phone down, whirling around to discover Alex standing behind you, looking down. Your face flushed, and you averted your gaze. "What is up with you sneaking up behind me, Batman?"

"Batman?"

You shrugged. "I'm not good at nicknames, so shut up."

"I prefer Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man."

You lightly chuckled. "Oh, yeah?" You heard him moving a chair beside you, causing you to groan internally. 'Why do you have to be here?' You sighed. "What are you doing here?"

Alex showed his book out and smiled. "Well, I was going to read this somewhere else, but I saw you here. I thought you might want some company." You remained silent and looked down at your book, collecting your thoughts. Alex glanced at your hand that was resting on your book. "I saw what happened earlier."

"Sorry?"

"You know, threatening Eiffel and everything."

You cringed and shook your head. "I don't know what came over me. I swear I don't handle situations like that. I just grew tired of her."

"Tired of her annoying you?"

"Nah, just simply her existence."

You and Alex shared a laugh and covered your mouths, so you two wouldn't be scolded. Alex chuckled. "I don't blame you. I don't understand why Chase hangs out with her and Brandon or simply why he's friends with them."

"And I don't know why Eiffel's parents would name her like that." You replied. "Seriously, it doesn't even suit her."

"That's just mean." Alex chuckled once more. "You're fun to be with."

You slightly scoffed. "No, I'm not. I'm boring, believe me."

"Confronting Eiffel like that isn't boring." Alex beamed. "You sort of scared me when you look at her like that."

"Like what?"

"Like you're planning murder."

You stared at him for a moment before returning to your book and remaining silent. Alex was going to say something when he realized the pendant on your necklace was cracked. "What happened to your necklace?"

You looked down and grabbed your pendant. "I don't know. Must have cracked because of my weight." Alex nodded in understanding before opening his book and flipped some pages. "Hey, Sitcom..."

"Yeah?"

"I'm thinking about joining Nico later."

You froze for a moment before nodding your head. "Okay, go ahead. No one's stopping you."

"But you know it's a bad idea."

You cocked an eyebrow at him. "What's a bad idea? Of you hanging out with Nico?"

Alex playfully rolled his eyes. "No." He replied. "That telling the police is a bad idea. I can't convince Nico, but I should be there for her."

"Then be with her." You simply replied, looking away. "Just take care of her when you get back. I'll snap your neck if something happens to her."

"And what about me?"

You blinked your eyes in confusion before turning to look at him. "What do you mean?"

"What if something happens to me?" He smiled. "I feel a bit upset that you don't care about my well-being."

"I don't."

'I do.'

"You sure?"

You scrunched your face and sighed. "Fine, I'll cause chaos if anything bad happens to you. Happy?"

Alex chuckled softly before patting your shoulder and getting up. "I like to imagine that." He placed the book back on its right bookshelf, making you stare at him in pure confusion. "I thought you were going to read that."

Alex turned to you and shrugged. "I just needed an excuse so I could talk to you. Later, Sitcom!"

"Why would you need an excu—" You sat there speechless, your cheeks flushed crimson red from flattery. You shook your head and began flipping your pages to get your thoughts off of Alex. It wasn't helping, though. Before closing your book shut, you whined quietly and taking your phone, exiting the library to get some lunch.

Just as you planned on getting lunch, you heard a commotion from the tents where everyone was having their meal. You squinted your eyes hard and spotted Chase kicking Brandon's ribs, and the two had to be broken apart from the fight.

"Hey, hey, hey, stop it!" You heard Karolina shout, sprinting towards Chase to settle him down.

"Get off me!"

"That's enough, stop!"

"Stop it, Chase!"

"That's enough!" The lacrosse team coach, Alphona, ordered Chase, Brandon, and Lucas to stop. "Three of you, in my office now." When the three men hesitated, Alphona sighed. "Let's go, gentlemen."

Alphona looked around the students who were watching. "Come on, everyone, let's go. Break it up. Back to lunch. Nothing to see."

You stepped aside when you saw Chase, Brandon, and Lucas were heading in your way to go to Alphona's office. Lucas eyed you up and down before diverting his gaze away while you scowled. You instantly turned around and walked in the opposite direction.

You stopped in your tracks and spotted Eiffel talking to Karolina. "This is all your fault." Eiffel accused.

"What is?" Karolina questioned in confusion.

"Well, if you didn't get wasted and hook up with Brandon and Lucas at that party, then Chase wouldn't have gone ham on their asses, and our state lacrosse title wouldn't be in jeopardy."

Gert glanced at you and quickly moved to your side while Eiffel and Karolina talked. Karoline shook her head. "No, that... that... that never happened."

"Yeah, it did." Eiffel mockingly smiled. "But you wouldn't remember that because you're a lightweight drunk and a lacrosse-ruining slut."

Eiffel took a look around and saw you. She walked away, cringing her face with annoyance. As you and Gert approached Karolina, the blonde-haired girl looked at both of you. "I have no idea what she's talking about. I..." Karolina sniffed and attempted to remember what had transpired during the party. "I was... I was dancing alone downstairs, and then the next thing I knew, I woke up with Chase."

Gert thought for a moment, pausing to say her whole sentence to Karolina. "Karolina, it sounds like maybe those guys..."

Karolina shook her head vigorously. "No, no! She's lying. I would know!" Karolina stared at you and Gert for a moment. "I'm... I mean, I would know, right?"

You slowly nodded. "Yeah..."

"Why wouldn't Chase tell me?"

Gert glanced away. "I think he's trying to protect you."
