Happy Mahashivratri in advance!!!
I am writing this on 28 Feb '22..
And tomorrow is the auspicious day of Mahashivratri!!

Before coming to the story, let's start with a verse:

निम्नगानां यथा गङ्गा देवानामच्युतो यथा ।
वैष्णवानां यथा शम्भु: पुराणानामिदं तथा ॥ १६ ॥

nimna-gānāṁ yathā gaṅgā
devānām acyuto yathā
vaiṣṇavānāṁ yathā śambhuḥ
purāṇānām idam tathā

Synonyms
nimna-gānām - of rivers flowing down to the sea; yathā - as; gaṅgā - the Ganges; devānām - of all deities; acyutaḥ - the infallible Supreme Personality of Godhead; yathā - as; vaiṣṇavānām - of devotees of Lord Viṣṇu; yathā - as; śambhuḥ - Śiva; purāṇānām - of Purāṇas; idam - this; tathā - similarly.

Translation
Just as the Gaṅgā is the greatest of all rivers, Lord Acyuta the supreme among deities and Lord Śambhu [Śiva] the greatest of Vaiṣṇavas, so Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the greatest of all Purāṇas.

Lord Shiva is the best of Vaishnavas (devotees of Vishnu). He is also very very merciful.

Do you know why people dying in the holy land of Kashi get liberation?

It is because, Lord Shiva constantly chants the holy name of Lord Ram. Anyone dying in that land hears the holy name before dying. Anyone who hears the name of Hari is sure to get liberated.

In Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna has also told that anyone who says, hears or remember my name at the time of death is sure to come to Him...

This is how Lord Shiva ensures liberation for many souls!

Also, many people blaspheme Lord Shiva in order to spread the glories of Lord Krishna.
This is completely wrong!!!

Insulting the devotees is a very big offense and Krishna never forgives that!

He is heart of Hari!!

Anyways, let's continue with the tale

------------------------------------------------------

A poison was released, which Lord Ajita had already told about. The demigods, who were very afraid, at once took shelter of Sadashiva.

But, Lord Vishnu was present there. Then why did demigods go to Lord Shiva?

Well, it is simply because Vishnu wants the glories of His pure devotees to spread. That's why He wished that the demigods would do so.

The demigods rushed to the summit of Mt. Kailash, where Lord Shiva resides. There, Lord Shiva was talking with His eternal consort, Devi Durga regarding the topic of how to do welfare of the three worlds. See, how sweet they are!
