Happy New Year

"Hey, Nightwing!" A voice called from behind and Dick quickly put away the photo and note in his hand and cleared the file on his screen.

"What is is, Lagoon Boy?" He asked casually as if nothing had happened.

A humanized sea monster came strolling out from a hallway and into the main room where Dick stands with his hands tugged casually behind his head. "How long will it take for the others to get back? I'm getting bored."

"Delta had just completed their mission, ETA says 5 minutes top," Nightwing answered without looking up.

Lagoon Boy groaned, then he turned his attention back to Dick. "What are you working on?"

"Nothing."

"Then I don't suppose you would mind if I ask you to spar with me?" Lagoon Boy challenged.

Nightwing paused in his work and raised an eyebrow at him. "The fight ended pretty badly last time. You sure you are up for it? " He asked.

"Sure I am!"

"Alright," Dick said, waving away the holo-screen. "Computer, training mode." He could use this chance to relieve some anger. There's no way better to channel that energy.

"Training mode activated."

The two circled each other. "Hand to hand?" Nightwing asked.

"Why not?"

The fight with Lagoon Boy was easy. Easier compared to training with Burce at the Batcave. La'gaan is a good fighter, but he needs more training and patience. Dick blocked a punched with his arm and pushed it away, he ended the fight by turning and reverse kicked Lagoon Boy in the chest and sent him flying back and crash-landed on the floor.

"Winner: Nightwing." The computer announced.

Lagoon Boy slammed his fist on the ground. "Neptune's beard!" He cursed and Dick froze momentarily. Neptune, Poseidon, Percy's birth father...Stop it, he scolded himself and offered a hand to pull up the boy from the floor. "You did it to me again! I don't care how many years you trained as Robin then Nightwing, one of these days, you're mine, chum." He promised.

Nightwing smiled a little. "I don't doubt it, Lagoon Boy."

Just then, the Zeta-tube lit up. "Recognized: Superboy, B04. Miss Martian, B05. Bumblebee, B17. Beast Boy, B19. Robin, B20. Blue Beetle, B22."

Lagoon Boy ran towards the appearing figures in the Zeta tube and hugged Miss M as she appeared out of the light.

Oh, that's right, Megan found a new boyfriend - La'gaan.

Nightwing glanced sympathetically at Connor who walked grudgingly past his ex-girlfriend and her new love as they shared a kiss. "I'm hitting the showers..." the clone mumbled. Dick sighed and turned to Tim, who approached him nervously.

"So how did the mission go?" He said, trying to sound upbeat.

Robin straightened his shoulder. "Clayface is safely back in his Arkham cell." He said like he's giving a formal report instead of chatting casually with his older brother.

"Good work," Nightwing said smiling. Tim had always been a cautious kid, careful to follow the rules. Dick could understand the boy's thoughts, after what happened to Jason, Batman had become more protective and demanding, it took all everything Dick got plus Alfred to persuade Bruce to let Tim join the Team. Robin's just trying his very best to make sure he doesn't give Batman a reason to kick him out of the Team. But the kid really needs to boost his self estimate.

"I didn't do much. I just..." Tim's words were cut off by a sudden incoming call from Captain Atom.

"Emergency alert." the Leaguer announced. "United Nations headquarters is under attack."
