XII: Roof Garden II

Start from the beginning

At the mention of my he dog, in the corner of my eye, I saw Rouge perked up "I know we're not supposed to, technically," I paused for a moment, thinking "but I bet if you asked Fairy Godmother she might make an exception for you"

"For me? Why would she-?"

Carlos question was cut off by Rouge as she started to move even more, looking between us interact and let out a soft sound, trying to speak but still be quiet

Thankfully, Carlos did not understand her but I did. What she had said made my face flushed bright red, "Yes. I know who it is. Now hush, you're supposed to be quiet for a little longer" I whispered towards my cat, leaning to her, slightly covering her with my bag

"Did you..." Carlos voice made me get back up and stare at him "...Understand her?" Asked the astonished boy, looking at me shocked. I just shrugged like it was nothing "That's the perk of being Aurora's daughter" I was the only one who could understand animals in my family, except my Mother

His brown eyes brighten in awe as he looked at me, holding the contact. My face turned red again. The class quieted as our teacher, Miss Wendy darling, entered the room and Carlos quickly looked away, his face now flushing red as well, realizing what he was doing

Us two kept our gazes focused on our own books for the first good moments of class. When the teacher turned to face the chalkboard, I leaned towards him and whispered, "You want to go to the roof garden, after class, if you want?"

"Yeah sure" He whispered back, looking down at me. I let out a smile to him and looked back at the board at the board, where the teacher is still writing

3rd POV

Class seemed to drag on forever but finally the bell rang and the two were the first to leave the class. They had to hurry before the rest of the students filled the hall and it became too crowded to move quickly. With the cat in her bag and the heels she's was wearing, Priscilla couldn't move as quickly as Carlos was and started to fall behind

Carlos noticed her slowing down behind and without any hesitation, grabbed the girls hand and held on tightly as they made to the stairwell to the roof. Priscilla looked behind to see if anyone was looking before rushing up the stairs along with the boy, who was still holding her hand tightly. She didn't even have the chance to be properly flustered, so she simply smiled to herself and squeezed his hand

The bright sun hits her skin as the two made their way to the bench where they first properly met. Hands still together, Cilla's own heartbeat pounded within her chest but for once. She did shy away from the contact

Instead, she allowed herself to enjoy the connection, the feeling of the villain's finger interlock with her own. Only because Priscilla knew it would end quickly. Soon, Carlos would realize their situation and let go of her hand. To her, it was only a reflex that he had to grab her hand since she had been so much slower than him

They had slowed down and she realized that they had made it to the bench. Carlos looked over his shoulder to her and gave a bright smile. The grin was infectious because Priscilla was smiling just as much, her cheeks warm.

He sat down at the bench and he should have let go of her hand when he did so, but he didn't. Priscilla eyes widen in surprise when his hand only shifted to support as she slowly copied his actions on sitting down at the bench. Once she sat beside him, her skirt properly tucked underneath her, she noticed that her bag was wiggling and she had to let go of his hand to help free Rouge

The Cat shook her whole body before bounding towards the two kids, Rouge let out a soft noise as she jumped on their laps "Mm, you're free to run around now," The daughter of Aurora laughed, Rouge let out a louder noise before jumping and run off where Priscila could see her.

As She watched over her pet, Carlos unconsciously touched her hand. Their finger bushed together and Priscilla was pleased with herself that she kept her blush under control

She never really realized how awkward she was when it came to physical touch until then. Her fellow students and friends weren't overly physical with casual embraces or anything.

Carlos slowly glanced at the girl, admiring her features more up close then before. Priscilla felt eyes on her so she turned and saw Carlos looking at her. The said boy quickly looked away seeing he was caught, Priscilla smiled slightly unable to control her blush.

She leaned against the back of the bench and watched over her cat once again seeing if she was staying out of trouble and when her gaze returned, she noticed something odd

While Carlos tended to wear shorts, his legs were hardly ever noticeable due to the extra layer of some tall socks which left little skin visible. She hadn't noticed, maybe never would have if she hadn't been sitting next to him with their legs outstretched and the sunlight hitting right at them, that there was a pearly fissure that reached up past the top of his sock. A scar.

"Carlos?" Priscilla hesitantly called

"Hm?"

She bit her bottom lip for a moment before asking a question. Unsure if it was really her place? It wasn't any of her business, to be honest, but the question left her lips otherwise

"What happened to your leg?"

Immediately, Carlos body stiffened and she saw his reaction. His freaked stood out more as color left his face. At this, she began to panic, knowing she crossed some sort of line

"I'm sorry—! You don't have to explain anything" She quickly reassured, her own anxiety was flaring to life and she felt embarrassed "It's none of my business—why would I asked that?—I'm so sorry..!"

She had to get up, her face burning with shame of her query. She should've just kept her mouth shut. Carlos grabbed her hand again before she could even get to her feet, keeping her in place. Priscilla eyes widen with surprise as she she looked at him. At first, He didn't look at her, but after taking a moment to take a breath, he turned towards her with a look of determination

"It's okay. I'll tell you" He promised

And he did. He told her everything
