The Maze:
The Maze began as a bunch of random people were all brought together in one place. and we're given a simple task: get to the end of a maze with people you have never met before.
This may seem simple enough. but but some people were proven untrustworthy, which resulted in a multitude of casualities.
Once survivors made it to the end. it was revealed that they had in fact failed what they set out to do in the first place, escape the maze.
Because of this, they reset the maze as if they never even began it. spiriling them into a new form of purgatory with not much of a shot of escaping.
