chapter 1

I woke up in darkness floating and drifting. I was wondering where I was, I then had a massive  headache.
I thought my head was going to explode, then as the pain was subsiding I saw a mysterious “thing", a shadow walking around as if it was looking for something.
It continued to search for a while and it then suddenly started to draw closer  to me.
It then handed me a pen-like device, it looked gold-ish but felt strange when touching the device like unsmooth wood with splinters.
The shadow began speaking and surprising me saying that “this device holds the key to the future of you and your comrades planet”.
With that in mind it left me with even more questions. I asked it,” who are you?, where are we?, why was I here? It said, “you are in a different dimension and you will be sent back to you planet earth very soon and begin the trials or for you humans “games” but any other questions will be explained in due time”.
The shadow then snapped and I started feeling like I was being sucked into something. Before being fully pulled in it advised me to take care and be sensible about some of my comrades, then we finally parted and with that I started thinking about what was happening at the moment.
what was sucking me in? I thought that it was a wormhole like I heard in some of the science shows I’ve watched.
I after a few minutes I then opened my eyes, I got up and put the device in my pocket then saw I was on a playground but I wasn’t  the only one.
I started waking up  the nine others and realized I knew them like Christopher whom was my closest friend since we were six but I hadn’t seen him after he got a job to work abroad for a huge tech company. I then saw Paul freaking out and Sharon calming him after they woke up.
Harry, a guy I knew since elementary school gathered Wendy, Eric and Anna to talk and pacify the others but the Gloria who was Chris’ former crush came with Alice saying, “you seemed like you help manage thing right now”. “I agree “,replied Chris.
“well, I suggest that we should just calm ourselves and gather as much as possible right now” I said.
There were five boys and five girls, since we still were unsure of what was going on, I made a decision that we should take bags by us, take the little money inside and pay for a room for the rest of the day.
So we picked a three story-building to camp at and while we were walking to the building we saw several phones on the streets, several stores without any workers and no people on the sidewalks.
We finally arrived and I saw a sign in front of the building reading,” relax hotel”. I guessed  it was a new trendy hotel but didn’t really care.
We entered the building which was decorated with  grassland murals on the ground floor and had a carpet which was designed to look like grass. The was no one at the reception so we enter and went to first floor where the bedrooms were. We began to prepare a shelter, we were in teams of two.
I told Paul and Wendy to check around to recreational centre and the streets to see if anyone was out there, I told Chris and Sharon to gather supplies on the ground  floor like food, phones, portable chargers, flashlights and anything else if they deem it important.
Then Eric and Alice were to check the stairwells, the bathrooms and the garage and make sure everything was okay.
Harry and Gloria were told to check the second floor and do the same as Chris and Sharon, he looked annoyed but did so anyway.
So then It was left with Anna and I, we stayed on the first floor to arrange and gather more supplies.
As we were arranging we started talking, I curiously started talking about why we were here and why the were no people around when we got here and she said, ”she was also wondering too”.
It was crazy talking to her, we began reminiscing about high school and the last time we saw each other which was graduation.
She was such a good friend but now we’re twenty-five years old, it felt like seven years hadn’t passed when I was talking to her.
As I was thinking I heard a voice calling me saying Lucas, Lucas!! You were spacing out, why? I told her I was thinking about how much time has passed and that she still looked beautiful.
She smiled and said, “well for whatever reason we’re here l’m glad to see you again ,I hope we can make the most of our time together”.
What she reminded me of what the shadow said that, “the rest would be explained in due time” and why it gave me that device, well I guess thinking about it right now won’t get me anywhere”,I thought whilst rubbing my head. “ Just take a break, relax a bit Lucas and enjoy this with them”, I added.
So after we all finished what we were assigned to do, we all met in the gather hall on the second floor and sat down in a circle.
Then Wendy  said, “so I’m just gonna come out and say what we’re all thinking, why are we here? I mean.. last thing I remember I was at work and I was about to go back to my office and I became dizzy and blackout and next thing I know I was at the playground with you guys.
