He was wearing the promise ring I gave him when I confessed.
"You kept the ring?"
He flinched and quickly moved his hand under the book. He shot me a glare.
"I wouldn't waste something important to me. It's like having a piece of candy and never eating it, I'm just keeping it for the memory"
I let out a small hum.
"What happened to yours?"
"It's in a box, like you said. Maybe the person keeps the candy and doesn't eat it because they like the memory of how they got it. You wouldn't want to forget something like that right?"
I zone out into what Tubbo said before as he continues working for some more minutes.
"Alright well I'm finished"
He handed me the book and I read over it.
"This is pretty good, you sure you need help?"
"I don't really know, I'm good at it sometimes when I'm motivated"
"Oh? And what motivated you to do this right now?"
He looked at me with his bright brown eyes.
"Take a guess"
I looked at the time.
"It seems our time is about up. Next time I'll have actual work for you"
He nodded. We started packing up what we had taken out.
When we finished we walked out of the library doors and went awkwardly through the school until we made it to the entrance.
It had become a bit dark to the point where we partly relied on the street lights as it was foggy outside. It wasn't thick but also not really thin.
I pulled down my mask to breath in the coldy air.
"It's pretty foggy right?" Tubbo looked around.
"Do you want me to walk you home?"
"What?"
"It's a pretty thick fog, and I don't want you to get hurt"
I got quieter at the last part of that sentence.
"I would appreciate that"
He smiled brightly. It's been a long time since I've seen that smile. Just to think, I once saw that smile every morning.
It would've been hard to believe.
I kind of regret my choices in my actions and speakings earlier.
We started walking towards Tubbo's house. Only a few cars would pass by every now and then.
"So..how's school?" Tubbo said.
"It's fine I guess, what about you?"
"Pretty good actually, just been hanging out with Tommy and stuff"
"That's good to hear"
It went back to uncomfortable silence.
"Do you regret it?" He said bluntly.
"What do you mean?"
"Do you regret loving me back then?"
Oh god, why would he bring this up.
"N-no? Yes? I actually don't know"
"Well, how do you feel"
"It hurts thinking about it but it makes me feel open"
He rubbed his arm.
"Do you wish you could turn back time to those days?"
"Well-"
He stopped moving.
"Alright we're here, bye Ranboo!"
"Uh, bye Tubbo"
He went inside and closed the door with a slight slam.
I let out a rather loud yawn. I started walking away so people don't think im weird just standing there. Someone would've probably called the police.
It was a bit of a long walk from his house to mine but I'll make it there sooner or later.
"Do you wish you could turn back time to those days?"
Those words rang through my head.
I mean, I would love to be happy and exuberant again. But I don't think I would want to try again with Tubbo.
Look at me now, miserable and inconsolable. If I were to try again, I wouldn't do it with the same person.(he means dating, nothing bad🔫)
I had walking a bit passed my house without even realizing. I walked backed a few steps.
I opened my house door and walked in.
I went over to the dining table to see Niki still sitting down. She looked up from her book at me.
"Hey Ranboo, how'd it go?"
"Fine"
"You seem bothered by something. Sit down, tell me what's wrong"
I sat down at the table across from Niki.
"Was Tubbo really good for me? I want the true veracity"
She closed the book that was in her hands.
"Well, you did seem more happy. And when you were hurt, you hurt quite a bit. To the point to cry every hour or when ever it was brought up"
"Don't bring that up please"
"Ranboo, the way you appeared hurt in such way, shows how much you cared. Yes it hurts, a lot. But a person in a typical relationship wouldn't cry that much. You were really happy"
"I guess you're right"
She threw her hair back dramatically.
"Yes yes, I know, I'm always so wise"
I let out a small laugh.
"Oh yeah, the foods in the fridge"
"Thanks"
I got up from where I was and opened the fridge to grab the food our Mom made before she left.
I took out some pasta on a plate and sat back down at the table.
What an interesting day. And I kinda wish still it hadn't played.
