I was in awe that the process was going very well. A few months ago, Silco was quite frustrated that his creation wasn't going very well. I couldn't cooperate much, I knew more of mechanical work, whereas Silco and Singed specified in the scientific composition of matter and substances. All I could do was help out with small things, but to Silco they were something.
At least, I think he ought to think it's something. Right?
But he never seemed to bring up the topic with much enthusiasm around me, which gave me the impression that he didn't want me knowing much about it.
Though, that sounded silly.
He was simply just preoccupied with all the heavy work, he didn't have time to fill me in on every little improvement and development.
"That was all. Now, Singed requires my assistance. Don't do anything reckless, Y/n."
And with that, as quick as he came into the room, he exited. I sighed, tension slightly leaving my shoulders.
His presence was always one that put me on slight edge, even if he had always been one to trust, but I always felt a certain fear; a fear that I couldn't explain. It was probably just a stupid feeling in the bottom of my stomach, but it was always a very valuable point of his to never stop at nothing, and he sure did mean it.
Sometimes. the fear of him utilizing Shimmer for something else other than fuel plagued my thoughts. Singed was a strange man, that I could tell.
Intelligent or not, he had a strange aura to him, and I couldn't help but wonder what Silco's ties were with this man, and if it only limited to lab work.
Though, it was definitely best to simply not think about all that too much.
Tapping my fingers on the wooden desk, various ideas of what to do soon flooded my mind to get me distracted from my previous thoughts.
A little distraction couldn't hurt.
It was always worrying about the shimmer, or worrying about what Silco was up to.
I could continue to work... but I could also sneak out.
Sneak out? Psh. Silco never denied permission for me to leave the base, I could come and go.
But I usually always notified him firsthand.
Though, there was something so exciting about sneaking off without anybody else knowing.
He never specified I couldn't do such a thing, I just can't do anything reckless. Is that reckless? No, its just going out to get a good view of the Undercity.
Seizing my small pouch of coins, I glanced over to the door, the same one Silco went through, and decided to go through the one on the opposite end of the room.
I wasn't going to do anything reckless, right?
Right.
•. •. •.
Great.
Here I was wandering around in places I didn't know much of, but I think I knew how to handle myself pretty well. Although that would just be me flattering myself, because I certainly didn't have a single clue of what I was doing in these foreign streets.
It was pretty sad, knowing how I used to know my ways through the city when I was younger. But this environment changed, and so did my past memories.
Morphed into a new perspective, a new lens.
Despite living in the Undercity, I had never gotten the chance to really witness it.
Though, that was just me being a coward.
But at the thought of new, unbound territories, I felt a need for exploration. A surge of excitement coursed through me, making my fists clench tightly by my sides as a stupid grin plastered itself onto my lips.
I had to maintain my cool!
No normal person from here would have their mouth agape over stands with sellers.
Sure, I had been here before a handful of times, but they were all under Silco's orders, and with Silco's directions. I hadn't exactly memorized the streets, or followed any other routes that he hadn't told me about.
I had to do exactly what he demanded, there was no time to simply observe my surroundings, and I was never one to waste my time on doing so.
