Only one logical thought was pushed through my mind; panic.
Panic in sensing this fear of being alone, never seeing my soulmate's face again.
It was unlogical. I knew that Taehyung would come home. Like any other night, I knew I'd see his face. While eating some greasy, unhealthy microwave meal, I'd wipe the sauce off his face, and there would be that familiar spark in his eyes. Or during our tender goodnight-kiss that lingered with the desire of an incomplete bond.
I'd see him again, I retaliated. But I couldn't convince this voice in my head otherwise... alone... you've been alone all this time, and you'll never see your soulmate's face again. It was as if the thoughts in my head weren't my own. How was this possible?
When more silence echoed in my ears, I scrambled for my phone and frantically typed the call button on the contact '🐻💜'. The dial tone passed three times before Taehyung finally answered.
"Morning Angel," His voice rang out sweetly in my ears. Like a tidal wave of relief, I began sobbing on the phone. It had been just a simple argument about why were my emotions thrown out of the park like this. Were these my tears? My emotions?
Taehyung's voice continued to seek a response, but it was as if someone had opened the floodgates. The tears wouldn't stop; I knew deep down they wouldn't stop again until his lips were on mine and we basked in one another's colour.
Taehyung's voice was shouting down my ear, making me flinch back from my thoughts. "Alice?-Alice? Are you okay?"
"-...home... come home. Please." I whispered, sniffling and wiping my blubbering tears with the sleeve of my jumper. "On my way. Want me to stay on the phone?" Taehyung asked.
I hummed, not giving him a yes, but I knew Taehyung would understand.

{Taehyung}
"Hobi-hyung," I began the sentence, but I could tell from the softened glance in my friend's eyes that he understood. "If you want to come back this afternoon, there's space she can work in my office. I've not seen Alice in weeks. I miss her. It's probably just the stress of a new set, and the move may have just been a bit much for her. Don't worry; take your time." He smiled fondly as he encouraged me to leave. Packing my bag and almost threw me out the door before I had the chance to say another word.
My fingers laced quickly around my keys, hauled my body into the car and drove as legally possible back home.
When my hand finally pushed open the apartment door, a panicked yapping Tan welcomed me. Tan seemed just as frustrated and worried as I was as he led me to my troubled Angel. I hung back nervously, assessing the situation from the doorway as the colour trickled back into my vision. But the colour seemed different, distressed almost. Like a chipped painting, the vibrant magenta cushions thrown from our bed had unfamiliar flecks of lilac at certain angles.
This new symptom left my own heart a little heavy; one foot in front of the other, I joined Alice upon the bed. Her pale fingertips fisted into the sheets so tightly I hesitated to manoeuvre her too suddenly in the apprehension of defending herself with such tight fists. "Alice..." I called out to her.
The long hair hid her face. I carefully shifted closer, making sure each step was slow and loud to alert her of my presence. Since her parents ' funeral, I'd not seen Alice in such a state. "Angel." I urged, growing even more anxious. "I'm here; I'm home. Look at me." I begged.
Alice's silver starlight eyes trembled as they met mine. Her eyes were raw. Cheeks stained as if tears would be permanently carved there. At first, I expected her to scowl at me for taking so long or some mocking voice to lecture me. Instead, she crumbled before my eyes into my arms that clutched onto her tightly, breaking her fall.
