Chapter 6

A few weeks earlier, upstate New York

Tony and Clint had retired after everything that happened in Sokovia.

Clint wanted to spend time with his family and the newest member, little Nathaniel. And Tony was also up for some time off from all the fighting.

Thor returned to find out more about the so-called and to the others unknown Infinity stones. After some kind of dream, he had to figure out what all of this had to do with it.

Bruce, or rather Hulk, was still missing, which worried Emilia as much as the others.

Fortunately, after Ultron, there were no more major threats so far, which is why Steve and Natasha had taken on the responsible task of training the new recruits.

Among them were Wanda, Vision, War Machine, Falcon and Emilia.

The skills as well as physical attributes of each individual were trained.

Especially for Emilia it turned out to be a blessing to finally have someone who could train her mental powers.

They tried to make her premonitions controllable, but that turned out to be harder than it actually was.

Even Vision, who had only recently been born, so to speak, was unable to help her with this.

Her blackouts were still a mystery, too. Emilia built up more and more walls inside to shield her subconscious from possible triggers.

Since no one knew what was happening to her, she didn't want to take the risk of hurting one of the others or even innocent people. After all, there were quite a few agents and employees running around the new headquarters.

Emilia even got involved with one of the charming agents.

Jackson was one of the group leaders and wrapped her around his finger with his rather exciting charisma. She enjoyed the few dates and the resulting change of pace from Avengers life.

However, not for long. Because behind Jackson's facade something was bubbling, for which she was not prepared.

And she hadn't really time to worry about it.

Even though she couldn't explain what triggered it the blackouts, she suspected it had to be strong emotions - similar to Bruce and Hulk having some kind of second personality.

But before she ran the risk of bringing it to the surface, she tried everything possible to keep it where it apparently was: in her subconscious.

Her last one was shortly after Ultron was defeated. She still remembered while watching the live broadcast on the screens her premonition before the fight in Sokovia.

Flying cars which crashed into the abyss there. Red-clad beings who apparently announced themselves as Vision.

And a star that disappeared in the darkness.

That star was Matthew... her Matty.

She tried to reach him. After the battle and the losses - especially Wanda's - she wanted to hear his voice and make sure everything was all right with him. But she couldn't reach him.

When she found out that he worked not for any organization but for the new SHIELD under Fury's leadership, she didn't want to believe it at first.

Why he hadn't told her about it, she could just guess. Matthew didn't want to worry his little sister unnecessarily.

Records listed him as one of the victims in action during the evacuation of Sokovia.

Fortunately, she was alone in her Ridgewood apartment when she found out. The blackout came and when she woke up again, everything appeared the same. She was sitting in front of her desk. Nothing had happened.
