Chapter 5

After the chase and the shock that Bucky was also still alive, they tried to prevent the impending attack and the countless casualties with the help of Sam.

With the death of Alexander Pierce and thanks to their efforts, Hydra was finally defeated.

After the hard fight against his old friend, Steve lay in the hospital quite badly injured. During his short period of recovery, Emilia described to him where she had really been for the last few months and what had happened.

However, the little detail that she tried to kill Bucky, Emilia concealed from him. Thinking about it gave her a stomach ache.

Back in New York, they now sat with some of the Avengers to discuss her mysterious blackout.

"I'd love to tell you what happened, but I don't even know myself."

Natasha looked at her, still standing next to Steve. After a moment's hesitation, she sat down next to Emilia.

"Back when Clint was manipulated by Loki with the scepter, he couldn't remember anything either. Maybe Hydra had something to do with it while you were there."

"I don't think so. It's not the first time this happens to me."

Tony, who had been pacing restlessly the whole time, headed for the bar and poured himself a drink.

"So what does Banner have to say about all this? Surely our mastermind should know if it's related to the gamma ray accident."

Bruce could only speculate about what it meant via video call. But he planned to check up on Emilia as soon as he got back.

"Then for now, we have no choice but to wait and see."

Steve straightened up to leave, because he still wanted to meet with Sam and Fury the next day to discuss what to do now. He needed to find Bucky.

"Well, what about her?" Tony stood behind the bar, pointing at Emilia with the bourban in his hand.

"Don't worry, Mr. Stark. I'm all grown up and well able to take care of myself. But if you' ll just give me a minute, I could make it worse if you want."

She meant no harm to anyone, of course, certainly not to any of the people here. But at Tony's reproachful question, she just couldn't hold back the sarcastic comment.

2015

Emilia tried to help Steve and Sam follow the trail of Bucky over the past few months. He had gone into hiding and left no footprints.

Steve was exceedingly grateful to her for that. She was no less glad to be doing something useful and not be alone in the process.

After SHIELD was also disbanded, her brother Matthew found a new vocation with some kind of humanitarian organization. They helped people who had lost their families and loved ones due to the many attacks - including those from other worlds.

Although Emilia used to watch his every move, there was no reason to do so anymore. She trusted her brother and had enough to do with the Avengers and the search for Bucky herself.

At some point over the months, some images haunted her thoughts after she had another one of her premonitions.

In her mind's eye, she saw cars falling like raindrops.

Creatures dressed entirely in red that resembled a human being, but also not.

And then there was something that looked like a star disappearing into a black hole.
