Part 6 - Operation Mushroom and Abel's confession

- Both of you saved the universe then?

- We did. And we failed at the same time. Because it caused a TK-Broken-Timeline scenario, which had few differences from the original world. And one of them, was a different version of ending Pandora's Box. In this timeline, only one person except me and my brother knew the truth, but nobody, even O5s wouldn't believe her. In this timeline, it wasn't the SCP-2000 incident which killed most of my squad. The official version is, that I was the one who killed them... Even though in reality I never did that...

- I... I don't know what to say Abel... I am sorry...

- It is not your fault Y/N. After this incident, I didn't cause as many containment breaches as before, and I started thinking about my life. But after 001 activated, I felt remorse greater than ever. I started crying inside my cell, I fell on my knees, recalled everything I did and cried even more. After an hour, I left my cell covered in tears and tried to say "I am sorry", but I couldn't say that. When MTFs saw me, they opened the exit door and told me to leave. I did as they said and outside, I met my brother and everyone else. We divided into few groups and went our separate ways to spend this last day in peace. Suddenly, you appeared and our story began, but even now, I am still fighting with my own feelings.

- Abel... Everything will be fine. You don't have to worry about all of that. It was the past. Now we have to focus at preparing this place for getting nuked.

- You... You are right... Lets do our job. And thank you for listening to me.

- Don't mention it Abel, you are my friend. If you need anything, I will be there for you.

- Thank you. Lets continue our preparations now.

After he said it, we left the room and continued fulfilling our plan. We were supposed to evacuate everyone until 8th March, but we managed to do that quicker than I expected and at 7th almost everyone was gone. Only few MTFs were still present in the facility because they were responsible for erasing memories of everyone in the nearest area.

At the same day we started drilling tunnels through the entire facility, which would be used to deliver the nukes. It was dangerous, because we had to calculate where we can do that without destroying the entire facility by accident, but at the end of day 10th everything was ready. We entered a helicopter one more time and flew in the direction of Germany, where we would observe the entire operation.

When we arrived, we were given a short tour around the facility and then we were given our own room, from which we would supervise the entire mission. However the entire plan would start at day 11th, so we went to sleep and hoped for the best.

When we woke up at 5 a.m., we went to the control room and looked at the fake hijacking of nuclear bombs. It took police five minutes to arrive there but nukes were already hidden in the facility, while fake trucks were given to the robots. They demanded to withdraw all soldiers and police officers from the area and dissolve all organization like EU, NATO or CSTO, or else they will activate them and blow everything up. Of course it was all planned but it was enough for police to evacuate all civilians in radius of 20 kilometers. Media immidiately started talking about this and they tried to see the trucks with cameras connected to drones. They managed to record terrorists sitting in trucks waiting for their demands to be fulfilled.

At the same time Foundation sent another group of robots which were supposed to retrieve the nukes, but in reality they would be the reason for their activation. While they were approaching the trucks, Cain activated the bombs.

Video broadcasted by drones near the trucks was quickly stopped due to temperature from nuclear fission which melted them immidiately, but it was quickly replaced by a new one, which was being transmitted from a safe distance and revealed a nuclear mushroom creating in place where bombs were detonated.

Nobody got wounded during the explosion, because everyone got evacuated to a safe place, and because uranium bombs were used, radiation would dissapear within two to three weeks. Everyone on the internet was already talking about this, but it didn't matter for us. We had to know if our plan worked or not, and when we received a call from O5 council, we knew that they had an answer for us. I quickly picked up the phone and said:

- Y/N L/N here, did something happen?

- It is O5-8 here. We used our advanced technology to get an image of everything in the nuclear mushroom. The entire facility vaporized. Bodies of class-D personel turned into dust, and there is nothing left in there, except this goddamn machine, which somehow survived this nuclear attack.

I felt how my heart stopped beating for a second. All those preparations, everything we did was pointless, because the machine survived it.

- I knew that. There was no way this would be that easy to destroy it. - Abel said with dissapointment. - Something had to go wrong, we shouldn't have done that!

- Mr. Abel, we had to try it, even though we knew how risky that was. It didn't work, but I am sure we will find a way to prevent the apocalypse. - O5-8 tried to comfort him.

- It doesn't make any sense though. We used nuclear bombs againts this thing, how are we supposed to find something stronger?

- I have an idea. - Cain stood up and looked at us. - Do you remember our journey to Site-17?

- Yes, but how is this going to help us?

- Do you remember who we met in there?

- Dr Kondraki and SCP-343, but what are you...

- Exactly. And 343 told us to go back to his containment chamber, because he will tell us how to destroy that thing.

- So our new goal is to go back to Site-17 and talk with 343?

- Exactly. But for now, lets stay in this facility for some time and try to find our own way of saving this world.
