Running out of time

Part 5 - Preparations

It took our helicopter some time before we arrived in Moskow. The main reason for that was a border control, during which our mission almost got exposed. When we reached the Japaneese border, we had to land in order to get our documents checked.

It wasn't the case while Abel was bringing us there, because borders weren't controlled due to SCP-001's effect, but now we were forced to show our documents, which we didn't take. Thankfully Myung-Ok was able to take control over people who wanted to check us, and they allowed us to pass without any problems.

She released them from her mind control after we reached Russia, but she had to repeat this procedure in order to keep us away from getting exposed. Luckily these problems didn't stop us and after we landed, we immediately went to a hotel to book a room.

Before any of us was able to do anything, Cain approached the reception, began speaking in a fluent Russian and got us three rooms: A twin room for him and Abel, a quadruple room with single beds for me, Iris, Olivia and Myung-Ok, and a triple room for our guards. Having paid for them he approached us and gave us the keys.

We entered out rooms and immidiately lied down on beds, because it was 9:15 p.m. when we arrived. Thankfully we could sleep for a long time, because our meeting with global leaders was planned for 10:30 a.m. the next day. I covered myself with a blanket and tried to fall asleep, but I couldn't do that due to all emotions inside me. Happiness that we succeded, hope that we can win, fear of failing our task and anxiety prevented me for entering the dreamland until 11 p.m.

When I woke up, it was 7 a.m. and everyone else was ready to go for a breakfast, but they decided to wait for me. Immediately I took some spare clothes given to us by our guards, ran to the bathroom and took a shower in order to refresh myself.

I didn't want them to wait for too long, so after I left the shower and wiped myself with a towel, I quickly dressed myself and went with everyone to a dining room. For now we were wearing our casual clothes, but we all had to change them before going on the meeting. We didn't bother with eating the meal too quickly, but instead began sharing stories with one another until we realised, that it was 9:30 a.m.

We quickly finished our breakfast and ran to our rooms in order to put on formal clothing. It wasn't as comfortable as what I was wearing few minutes ago, but unfortunately we had to wear it, and after we dressed ourselves, we left the hotel and went in the direction of Grand Kremlin Palace, where we met with a president of Russia, who was awaiting us.

- Good morning. Come inside, before journalists arrive and start taking photos.

We did as he said and stepped inside, where we were waiting for everyone else. From what we knew, an official reason for this meeting was an attempt of negotations between North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Collective Security Treaty Organization, which was supposed to reduce tensions between them and as a result bring peace to their people. In reality, only the second part of this meeting would be dedicated for that, while the first part was supposed to inform everyone about the danger. If everything went well, then we would try to find a way to prevent our world from collapsing, but in order to do that we would need a great plan.

After some time we saw few people entering the room. Representatives of each country in NATO and CSTO arrived, which meant that our meeting has finally began.

- Good morning everyone, and thank you for your arrival. As you already know, the official part of our meeting is just a cover for something way more important.

- I truely hope that our people won't find out, because it was extremely difficult to pretend that such a sudden meeting was planned long time ago.

- Unfortunataly this is the risk which we have to take, because we are talking about safety of this entire world. Because of that, I would like to ask representatives of SCP Foundation to explain everything.
