Tía comes over and plants a kiss on my forehead. "No need to apologize sunshine. I'm glad you already made a friend." She suddenly grabs my ear and pulls on it, "But it's nearly sunset! The ceremony starts in an hour! Go and get ready"

I wince as try to escape her deadly grasp. "Ay! I'm sorry Tía I'm sorry! I'll get dressed right now!" I manage to escape and I rush up to my room.

I come back down twenty minutes later wearing slightly more formal f/c clothes than I previously was wearing.

"Ay carambas, you look beautiful/handsome sunshine," Tía starts, "But we've got to go!"

She grabs my hand and Emilio's, dragging both of us out in a heartbeat.

Pregnancy mood swings. I sigh.

It was nearing sunset when we made it to the Madrigal house. A familiar face was at the door greeting people.

You saw them change into the different people they were greeting as they came in.

Oh! It's the shape shifting one!

I can't recall his name..

Tía and Tío went ahead of me. The boy shapeshifted into Emilio and gave him a hearty hug. Then, he shifted into Rosie, giving her a quick hug before motioning the two inside.

As I was about to go in, he walked to me. "Hey! You're a face I haven't seen before. Did you just move here?" He questions with a curious lopsided smile plastered across his face.

I shake my head no, "No, not quite"

"Hm, weird. What's your name mysterious stranger?" He asks in a dramatic voice.

I roll your eyes in a joking manner, "Y/n"

"Well, Y/n. I've got to go. You probably do too. But maybe we'll meet later?"

"Maybe"

He smiled and turned to leave. I turn too, but turned back around when I remembered. "Hey wait, what's your-" he was nowhere in sight. "name.."

I look around but didn't find him. So instead, I looked for Tío Emilio and Tía Rosie. I saw them across the area talking to someone I didn't know.

I don't want to interrupt..

I sigh as I stood there, in the middle of the room while everyone around me was either conversing or getting drinks.

"Y/n?" A familiar voice said.

I looked up and see Mirabel.

"Mirabel! Hey, uh hi!" I say somewhat awkwardly, but this made her laugh.

"Hey, what are you doing all alone?"

"Well, my Tía and Tío are busy talking to other people and I don't want to get in their way, you know?"

"Yeah.. I know exactly what you mean.." Her voice trails off and I could sense a bit of sadness in her words.

"Hey-"

"Thank you so much everyone for coming!" We both looked around and saw that the ceremony had begun. There was an old lady standing on the stairs.

Mirabel's eyes widened, "Shoot! I have to go! I'll find you later, kay?" She whispers.

I nod, "Okay"

She gives me one last smile before disappearing into the crowd.

This family has a thing with disappearing don't they..

I turn my attention back to the lady who was speaking.

"Fifty years ago.. this candle blessed our family with a miracle" She holds up a brightly shining candle.
