Zone Out • n.r.

"When will you hook me up with your friends?"

"Which one?" I ask amused although I knew his answer.

"Both!" He yells

I laugh before rolling my eyes and waving him off. "They both have someone. You know this already, Piet." He laughs.

"Yes, but tomorrow one of them could possibly... be single." He smiles.

"I doubt that very much." I say patting his shoulder before the meeting finally started. It took all day to get stats and facts about our mission written down, we had to make a plan for our center of attack as well.

By the time the meeting was over, it was dark out. It felt like I had hardly moved at all during our work day, and my butt hurt so much from sitting on it.

I quickly gathered my stuff before walking out of the big building.

"Y/n! Y/n!" I hear behind me, I look and see Natasha running to catch up with me. I smile holding the door open for her, she smiles at me appreciatively.

"Can I walk you home?" She asked, i raise my eyebrow in a bit of suspicion.

"It's dark."

"I'm an agent."

"Agents are targets."

"I'm highly trained."

"Doesn't mean you won't let your guard down." She argues back stubbornly with a smirk written on her face.

"Are you saying I suck at my job?" I smirk knowing she would think I was offended. Her eyes widen.

"No! I-" I laugh

"It's okay, I'm only teasing. Of course the great Black Widow assassin Can walk me home." I wink, she smiles before clutching her over shoulder backpack strap.

"So... we'll be gone for a while on our next mission, have you told your friends yet?" She asks after a while of silence. I shrug before looking back at her.

"We're all so busy, I don't think they'll notice when I'm gone."

"Come on, they're your best friends, how couldn't they notice?" She asks

"Itzel usually spends her days off sleeping or with her boyfriend, Jackie is constantly working or out with other friends... as well as her boyfriend. Only time I see them is at the dinner table, but I'm hardly ever there."

"Why is that?" She asked curiously

"I work past dinner time, most days. When when I'm at the table, I'm off into a dreamland in my own head. So when I'm there... I'm still not there."

"Is that why you never go out with them when asked?" She asks

"I try- wait... how did you know they ask me to go out?" I ask suspiciously. Completely forgetting this woman is a trained spy and assassin.

"Whenever someone asks how you enjoyed your weekend you always respond that you spent it binge watching a show or inside... hiking alone— and from what you say of your roommates, they seem very adventurous and outgoing." She explains, i nod.

"I forget, your a spy. Your literally trained to examínate and extract everything I say." I say laughing.

"It's in my nature, now spill." She giggles as well.

"I don't know... I guess I can't explain it. I want so badly to go out with them but my feet... they just don't move. My days mold together so I lose track of time easily, and I end up zoned out in my own head most of the time anyway so... what's the point?" I ask
