"Wack!" They hit the ball so hard.

She ran as fast as she could to get to 1st base. She slid into it at the base. "SAFE," called the umpire.

Dang, I wish I could do that, I pondered in my head.

"Kayla, do you want to come play?" Kamri asked, breathing hard.

I really really did. But one of my legs is shorter than the other. Which means I can't really run. But, I longed to run. I want to be normal. I guess I could go play. I looked around for my mom, sisters or brothers. Nobody in sight. I nodded slowly... It took me a couple seconds to get up and start walking. Once I was walking towards them they put me on the girls team. Please please please let me hit it really hard.

"Okay Kayla, all you have to do is hit the ball when it comes at you with this stick. Then run," explains Kamri, while she handed me the stick.

Kamri is a very athletic girl, and she is nice. But you can never trust anyone, because at one point they can change and start laughing at you. When you can't run, or walk very well, you're stuck right where you are falling in the deep pile of misery. Okay come on kayla if you hit the ball and make it to first base, you will be normal. Please please please I prayed and prayed. Swoosh the ball came by so fast right at my face. STRIKE 1. Come on Kayla, come on. Here it comes, wack. I hit it!! I did it!

"RUN!" they screamed .

I dropped the stick and started walking very fast. At this point I knew I was not going to make it. But I kept going. I fell, I got right back up. I want to be normal. I want to be normal, normal, normal. I was barely walking fast, but it felt like I was running. I saw that they were running to the base with the ball. I was not going to make it. I saw from the corner of my eye the boy who all of a sudden started to slow down. But maybe I was running really fast. Kamri gave the kid running a look. And he slowed down even more. It took me 2 minutes to get to the base safely, but I did it. But this thought kept coming into my head: did they let me get here? Why can't I just be normal?
