"Did you love him?"

"Yes, I did, but I ruined it. I let myself get caught up in my head. As a result, Hyram left me."

"What does love feel like? Will I ever be in love?"

"Love can feel like many things: warmth, familiarity, happiness, pain. Love is felt differently by many people. As far as you being in love, I don't know."

I watched as Chloe's blue eyes darted around the room, and her LED flashing yellow. She closed the book and stood up walking over to the window looking over the city. I decided to leave her alone and let her process as much as she could.

I wanted to figure out when she had became a deviant. I had only had her for a couple of days before the hostage situation, and I hadn't been present for half of that time, but something must have happened to make her start questioning humanity, emotions, and her existence.

My thoughts were interrupted as my phone started to ring. I picked it up and saw that it was the Detroit police. "Hello."

"Ms. King, it's Captain Fowler. My lieutenant Hank Anderson was just put on a case. It's a relatively easy one. Come to the DPD building as soon as you can." Captain Fowler didn't sound too happy about me invading his territory.

"I'm sorry. Like I said this is bigger than both of us."

He didn't respond and just hung up. I sighed and went to get changed. At least I would be working with someone that I was already familiar with. Hank and I had become closely acquainted over the last few weeks. He was irritable and moody on his best days, and now I could only imagine how he would feel about this.

I changed into something professional a decent blouse with a blazer and slacks. I didn't have a pair of shoes that would be suitable for detective work, so I went with a pair of red high-top vans. I called for a taxi as I put on a little mascara and eyeliner then headed to the elevator. I paused looking at Chloe before leaving. She seemed content for the moment.

"I'll be back in a few hours. Is there anything you want?" I asked watching her body language as she turned to look at me.

"Is it possible that I could leave the apartment? Just to see the outside world?" Her large blue eyes seemed to sparkle as she responded.

"Not right now, unfortunately, but tomorrow I'll take you out somewhere, and we'll have fun. It'll be nice to take a break for both of us." I smiled at her in response.

"Oh, thank you!" Before I had time to process what was happening, she was rushing over to me, hugged me tightly. It was somewhat comforting. She felt human, just colder than normal. I hugged her back and patted her head.

"I'll see you soon, okay? Don't let anyone in."

She nodded and backed away from me. I left the apartment and went to the elevator. To my surprise, it was already on its way up to my floor. I wonder if it was Agent 47 coming to talk to me. He had been trying to apologize nonstop for what he said to me weeks ago, but I just couldn't deal with it. When the elevator door opened I was shocked to see Thompson standing in front of me.

When Ally took him hostage the police took him away. I thought he was suspended for the next few months, but that had changed. "What are you doing here?" I questioned.

"I was let off the hook. I paid the family of the girl, and they decided to let me go," He said avoiding eye contact with me.

I scoffed. "The power of money, I guess." I stepped into the elevator and watched him as the doors closed. I went down the to lobby, and everything was quiet thankfully. I hoped that it would stay that way for a while. I have had too much excitement for the past month, and I don't think I could handle another one without having a major meltdown. Nearly killing Thompson proved that much.
