"Oh, gosh," I say, running to the door as Steve and James walk in, "what happened?"

"Tough guy got into a fight," James says, "again."

"I'm fine," Steve sighs, "Bucky got his orders."

"Oh, yeah?" I say, turning to James.

"Sergeant James Barnes, of the 107th." He smirks.

"Hey, well done, Sarge." I smile as James hands me a slip of paper.

"Another enlistment form? Really Steve?" I continue.

"I thought I'd give it another shot." He replies.

"Yeah, and how did that go?" I shake my head, placing the paper on the table.

"Did you ever think of enlisting?" James asks me.

"Not really, no," I sigh, "the war isn't my area of interest."

"But you can fight pretty well." Steve laughs.

"Hand-to-hand, yes. Ammunitions, no."

"What are you going to do instead?" James asks.

"I don't know, maybe see if I can get a job in technology development or something."

"You nerd! Come on, we've got to get ready for the expo." James says, putting his hat next to the paper.

"Howard Stark is presenting some kind of new invention," I say, receiving a sigh from Steve, "and there's an enlistment fair."

"Fine, I'll come."

~~~~~~
"I don't get why you're so bothered about the war," James says, "you're about to be the last eligible man in New York, with three and a half million women here."
"I'm not interested in that at the moment, Buck." Steve sighs.
"Well, what am I going to say to those two?" He says, waving at the two girls by the monument.
"Neither of them are mine." I add.
"Hey, girls," James smirks as we walk over to them, "this is Steve and this is Laurie."
"Hi." Steve shyly says as I smile and wave at them.
"God, Barnes, you're such a flirt." I laugh.
"I'm a ladies' man." He smirks again.
"Same thing."
"Yeah? And where's your date?"
"Didn't want one." I reply, walking ahead to Steve.
The five of us- James, Steve, Bonnie, Connie and I- head over to the stage, where Howard was about to begin his presentation.
"Ladies and gentlemen," the woman on the stage says, "Mr. Howard Stark!" This is followed by a rather loud cheer from the crowd, before Howard walked onto the stage.
"Ladies and gentlemen, what if I told you that in just a few short years, your automobile won't even have to touch the ground at all." Stark smiles.
"This'll be fun." I whisper to Steve, both of us laughing.
"Holy cow." James gasps as the car begins to levitate, only to crash back down again a few seconds later.
"I'm going." Steve says before exiting the crowd.
"Hey, Steve..." James turns around, "where'd he go?"
Our little group split up as James went to find Steve, Bonnie and Connie went to get some food, and I hung around after the show.
