It was the first of December, and in the centre of Paris Adrien could feel it very clearly: the first snowflakes were starting to fall in the dark sky, the smell of hot chocolate and candy canes filled the air, making him hungry. He was walking by the different Parisian streets, with the faint sound of Christmas music, playing from small shops, enhancing even more the Christmas spirit. There was only one thing that he didn’t like about Christmas: the fact that he always spent it alone. He would see his father just on Christmas Eve, for five minutes. This year on Christmas day he would be going to a fashion event, where he knew already that he would get bored within five minutes. Lost in his thoughts he quickly arrived home, where immediately Nathalie found him, with her typical same apathetic face.
“Merry Christmas, Nathalie” he said forcing a smile
“Merry Christmas, your father won't be having dinner with you today” she said monotonously
Adrien sighed. As usual his father disappointed him. He was about to head towards his room when Natalie started to speak again.
“Your father told me also that you can invite some friends to the event”
Adrien's eyes lit up. “You mean the Christmas Tardis Event? At the Tardis’?”
“Yes”
Adrien euphorically hugged her, smiling. Then ran to his room and picked up his phone.
He scrolled through names. “Chloè”. He pressed the call button.
Beep, beep, bee-
“Adrihoney! How are you? I just got a new Christmas dress from Daddykins! Merry Christmas! Did I tell you that I'm leaving for New York? I'm going to Mom!!”
“Oh…” Adrien’s voice wavered with a hint of disappointment “I'm happy for you Chloè”
“Why did you call anyway?”
“Umm… just wanted to say Merry Christmas. So..um.. merry Christmas Chloè”
“OK, bye!” She hung up the phone immediately.
Adrien was disheartened by the situation: as unbearable as Chloè could be, she was the only person who actually enjoyed going to these events, but now he had no clue who to invite. He mindlessly scrolled through more contacts, only stopping once he found “Nino Lahiffe 😎”. He then pressed the call button and hoped that his best friend would answer.
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep-
“Yo! Dude, what's up?”
“Nothing much right now, but do you have any plans for the 24th?”
“Nah… not really Bro. Why? Do you need help with some kind of problem?”
“Nah, I just wanted to know if you wanted to come with me to one of my father's friends’ events. Like, on Christmas Eve.”
“Dope! Count me in dude! Bye!”
The phone call ended, he scrolled downwards. “Marinette” appeared on the screen. He thought to himself that it could be fun to have her around, so he pressed the call button.
Beep-
“...”
“Marinette? Are you there?”
“ ADRIEN! Ummm…. I… Er… yes… are.. are y. ..are you play… Ummm. .. okay?”
“Yes, you?”
“NO! I mean… I'm great!!!”
“Yes, I know you are. What are you doing for Christmas?”
“Eh… I shouldn't be going anywhere, I might help my parents in the bakery. Why?”
“I wanted to know if you would like… if… if you wanted to come to a fashion event with me, Nino. Alya will probably be there too, I'm going to ask her after this. I thought that maybe you would enjoy this event, you know cause you like fashion. I don’t know why I’m talking so much since you probably know the event because you are a fashion expert, it's the Christmas Tardis Event.” he stopped talking when he couldn’t hear anything on the other side of the line “Marinette?”
He suddenly heard a muffled sound “Arghh… A.. ik. .y… wha… trdis. . Christ. .. You. .no..yes?.. o.. s.. Alya. . Kk”
“Marinette?” he asked again, confused.
“YES??” she almost shouted back at him
“So? Do you need time to th-”
“NO! I mean yes, I'll come! I'll be delighted to come to the I love you. I mean… eh… Christmas Event with you”
Adrien chuckled “Great! I'll call Alya then. I'll give you the details.”
“Great. Bye. I managed it and I conquered the phone call. I- Is it still- AAA”
Beep. She hung up.
“You know Plagg, Marinette is so funny sometimes”
“Yeah… sure” he said carelessly, as he was eying the camembert on the boy’s desk
Adrien in the meantime was looking for Alya’s contact on his phone. He pressed the call button once again.
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.
Adrien sighed.
“Sorry Adrien, I was checking my blog. By the way, I'll come, I already asked my parents. Bye”
She hung up. Adrien was smiling, except for Chloè all of his friends were coming to the event. He was finally going to have a great Christmas. He gave another slice of an old camembert for Plagg, and went to sleep.
