Chapter 28: New Beginning

The door chimes. I look up, and Ashley, another worker whose been here three years now, walks in.

" Hey" she smiles

"Hi" I smile back

" Ready for another awesome day?" She asks

"Absolutely " I reply

"Elena." Griffin's voice

I'm startled awake with all familiar feelings, my chest feels tight, and sweats soak my tank top.

I scrub my hands over my face sitting up in bed, even in my sleep I can't escape him.

I swing my feet to the side of the bed and look at my laptop. Debating. 

With a deep sigh, I decide to strip off my tank top and shorts and get in the shower instead.

I put on another one of my favorite Sunday dresses, light blue, passed my knee's length.

The door chimes as I make my way into the bakery, Luz looks up from the counter " Good morning! I have great news! We got the deal!" She exclaims excitedly

"Come, come! Let me show you the venue we'll be catering at!" She waves me to come closer to the counter

"Good morning, Luz" I smile and make my way to her

She shows me the pictures of the place " Wow it's gorgeous!" I said

"Right?!" She beams excitedly

" Congratulations!" I said

" Thank you. It's an engagement party for a well-known politician apparently, I didn't know who they were at first, so I had to look them up. But it'll be great to get our name out there!" Luz said

My body froze, the Godson might know these people, and I can't take any chances. I slowly step away and try to be as discreet as possible " What day will this catering event be?" I ask

" Two months from now!" She said excitedly 

Good, I'll think of an excuse before then.

"I have to head out and meet up with the client again today. Ashley will be in soon; tell her I need her to run the sale report and leave it on my desk before she leaves today." Luz said

"Ok, I will" I reply

Thirty minutes into the shift, people started coming into the shop, I pack up their orders and ring them up.

Two teenage girls came up to the register, one of them have both hands on her phone and press it close to her mouth, she looks at me behind her lashes, I smile and greet them " Hi, what can I get for you girls?"

They look at each other with wide eyes, one of them pushes the other one forward, she clears her throat, and her cheeks slightly turn red " Are you Katalena from YouTube?" She asks quietly

My chest swells with pride as I remember my best friend and me working hard together on our reactions channel.

"Yes," I said before I could stop myself

Both girls squeak " Where's Kate?!" "Can we take pictures with you please?!" They both speak at the same time

I smile at both of them " Kate, she's not here. I'm sorry, but I can't take any pictures at this time- I look terrible right now, maybe another time?" I struggle to make excuses I feel terrible, this is my first time meeting a fan in person and here I am refusing their simple request, but I can't take any chances.
