One year later:
"What do you mean you're leaving?" Shadow asked Yellow.
Yellow patted Shadow on the head. "You'll be fine. I'll only be gone for a few months. You know how to take care of yourself."
"Why are you leaving?" Shadow asked.
"I have to. The King has ordered all adult male Pokémon to leave town." Yellow told him.
"So you have to."
"Yes, I do."
Shadow weaved himself around Yellow. "Good luck." Shadow told him. "Be back soon!"
"I will!" Yellow told him.
The door slammed shut.
Shadow was officially alone.
At night, Shadow went outside and started his silent prayer to Yellow.
As he sang his silent prayer, he started glowing.
Shadow was evolving!
Shadow felt his body change and grow.
And in almost no time at all, Shadow was no longer Shadow the Eevee.
But Shadow the Umbreon.
