"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, jack frost nippin' at your nose..." the infamous Nat.K Cole played softly in the background, while Y/N rolled cookie dough in between her hands and pressing the imprint of her thumb down into the center, once placing them on the tray. Justin sat reading a book, a hobby he recently picked up, giving him a sense of relaxation and normalcy. He hummed along and read, another one of his many talents. Ironically the fireplace crackled in the distance, filling the air with woodiness and chocolate chips. A scent you'd recognize on the label of a candle. Far from the city, the snow fell delicately onto the cold grounds and distorted decorative lights shined through the windows. It was around 8pm, a Saturday night with nothing to do but enjoy each other's company. Justin turned his page revealing the inspiration he felt and suggesting it to Y/N.
"I think you might like this book, it would be a good motivator, you know." She smiled and agreed to read it once he'd finished it.
"Do you have any other books lined up?" She questioned.
"Yea I do. Will's book that I have yet to read, I feel kinda bad... I've looked up to him for so long you'd think I would've read it and finished it by now" Justin stated timidly. Y/N reassured him that a hobby such as reading takes time, with finding the genre you like, having time, rideing yourself of distractions in order to be able to fully enjoy and comprehend what you're reading. She acknowledged his concerns but promised Will would get it more than anyone else.
"How many more batches you got left" Justin reached his neck over the side of the couch to peer over at Y/N in the kitchen.
"Almost done," she said making her way over to Justin and planting a kiss on his lips. He closed his book and got up, "I'll help you, I want to do something now" he said a bit excited. Justin walked over to the stereo and stopped the classic melancholy Christmas music and turned on Jingle Bell Rock.
"Theeeeere we go" he said picking up Y/N and twirling her around, awarding a squeal out of her.
"What a bright time it's the right time, to rock the night away!" They sang in unison, now both of them rolled dough and finished the rest of the bathes in no time. Taste testing the first batch that had already been cooling long enough received a 5 start rating from Justin who requested Y/N make them for their New Years Eve party too.
"Ooh maybe I'll take you up on that" she giggled and embracing Justin in a hug.
"You wanna watch a movie? Are you tired yet?"
Y/N spoke looking up at Justin. He shook his head vigorously. Instead he disappeared into the basement and came back with a bottle of wine. Y/N laughed at his choice of alcohol.
"I hate this stuff, but you like getting wine drunk...only because I love you I'll participate in the fun" he shrugged and raised his eyebrows.
"What! No, Justin cmon. Are you sure that's a good idea, we can go for a walk in the snow and look at the pretty decorations!" Y/N spoke through laughs mostly, a bit hesitant of going through with the idea.
"We'll pace ourselves", Justin kisses Y/N on the forehead, and she eventually gave in.
"What the heck, tis' the season right" and shrugged, grabbing two win glasses from the cabinets. They shared a toast and sat in front the fireplace, singing along to all the Christmas songs that came on, even Justin when his own came on practically rolling his eyes the whole time. The dogs joined in on the dancing, twirling and barking, gaining laughs from Justin and Y/N. The alcohol getting to them a bit Y/N fanned herself with her hands and sat down to take a break.
"Are you hot? I am hot? It's hot in here...we should go outside" her words were still clear but not far from being slurred. Justin agreed and they both got bundled up and went outside to the snow still falling down at a steady pace. Where they lived in their gated community, lots of their neighbour's would go above and beyond with the Christmas decorations, making it seem like a winter wonderland attraction. The streets weren't so quiet as it was a few days before Christmas and all the kids still out playing in the snow, old folks going for a midnight stroll, and families gathered through lit up living rooms. As they both walked hand in hand admiring homes, they came upon a small park and Justin decided to pull Y/N along towards the park. They stood embracing each other looking up at the moonlit sky. What was a peaceful stroll ended in wrestling through snow as Justin tackled Y/N down to the ground. They both lay on their backs, spinning from the wine, talking and out everything and anything, feeling the snow melt on their hot cheeks.
