Sorrowful Waves

Chapter 1

Arulo was a prince. He lived with the king(his father) and the queen(his mother). Arulo was held with high expectations since he was destined to become the next king to lead the kingdom.

Arulo had to learn and train 10 times harder than anyone else. Arrulo soon got tired of all the learning and training, so he asked the king and queen if he could rest for a while. But the king and queen refused to make the prince rest because they thought it would negatively affect his quality of being the next king. Arulo was devastated. So Arulo decided to run away from the palace.

Arulo sneaked through the guards easily since he had a lot of training with stealth. He escaped through the back door of the palace which leads to a woods, and beyond the woods was the ocean. Arulo ran straight into the woods without looking back and just kept running.

Arulo figured that his father, mother, and the guards would have already find out that he escaped, so as soon as Arulo got out of the woods and reached the ocean he hid in a cave which was located in the wall of a cliff.

Arulo plopped onto the floor of the cave to catch his breath and was planning where to go next until he heard splashing sounds coming from deeper into the cave. Arulo, being the curious prince he was decided to head towards the source of the sound. Once Arrulo thought he was close enough , he peaked behing the cave wall that was in between the prince and the sound.

There was an small pool of water that connected to the ocean and he saw a child, a boy to be specific. Arulo thought it was just a boy until he saw how he swam and came to a startling realization that the boy didn't have a pair of legs but a fish tail. Arulo couldn't believe his eyes, he is seeing a mermaid, a merboy to be exact.

Arrulo was so startled that he fell right on his butt, which caught the attention of the merboy. The two stared at each other for moments. Arulo saw the merboy's face and was mesmerized by his beauty. When the merboy snapped back into reality he tried to swim out of the cave, back to the ocean but was stopped on it's tracks when Arulo had said the word ''W-wait!'' without realizing.

Arulo did not know why he has said the word, but it was certain that Arulo has never seen such magnificence in his entire life. ''Who are you?'' the two boys say at the same moment. Arulo was first to respond ''I am Arulo...the First''. The cave stayed silent for a moment until the merboy said ''I'm...Kanoa!''.

Arulo's face lit up upon hearing his name, ''Well then Kanoa, nice to meet you!'' he reached his hand out to Kanoa to shake his hand. Kanoa was hesitant but shook Arrulo's hand, ''Nice to meet you, too Arrulo''.
