Warnings: I don't think there are any for this one :) small mentions of like "die" but I think that's it ^^
Carson sighed as he heard a knock on his door soon followed by the ringing of his doorbell multiple times.
Another sigh while he was inwardly worried about his poor doorbell as it rang yet again.
Wow.
This guest sure was patient, he thought to himself with sarcasm and a thought that he should probably get the door. If he waited any longer his head might burst from the ringing of the doorbell.
So standing up and covering his ears, he made his way over to the door with long strides.
Looking out the peephole, he expected to see his annoying sister.
Or his friends,
Or anyone but this person.
On his doorstep stood The Scout Dunn, he was bouncing on his heels with anticipation. Anticipation to meet him?.
He pushed the thought out of his head while ignoring the small fluttering feeling in his stomach at the thought.
He panicked and remembered that he needed to open the door. And in what felt like slow motion he opened the door to reveal Scout in the doorway.
A large smile lit up his face and he quickly hugged the probably sleep deprived Carson and let out a squeal and a few words to follow
"Hi, Carson! Amber sent me over to ask for something and I just now realized I've never been here before and it's really pretty- Oh! Is that a dog? Cute! I love dogs so much! My Dad doesn't like them though so we can't have any."
He paused to inhale
"But um- Here are the blueprints she wanted!"
The boy had said this all in about a second giving the other very dazed boy little time to react.
He let go of Carson, who instantly missed his warmth and feeling of the other tucked neatly in his chest.
First of all, he had only had about three full conversations with this dude, and here he is hugging him and talking like they were old friends who had known each other for an eternity.
He was too nice for his own good.
"I was wondering when she would send them over... but thank you for coming this far. From what I've heard your apartment is across town. Oh yes and, come inside please"
Carson said, ending as he moved aside so the smaller boy could come in.
As he did, with an ever-growing smile on his face Carson contemplated why he spoke like that.
That was his 'business' voice, not his 'hang out with friends' voice.
Was he really that nervous? Looking at the boy once again (and looking away immediately after as not to appear creepy) he decided yes.
Scout sat down on a chair with wheels and stood up again while muttering something about giving him the 'prints.
It made more sense when he handed over the blueprints and sat back down while flushing a tad bit in embarrassment.
Carson smiled and sat down across from him, really taking in his appearance. The boy had very curly dirty blond hair that bounced with every moment he made. He had freckles and pale cheeks, likely from going outside. (From what he'd heard (and maybe eavesdropped) he loved to hike, hence the nickname 'Scout') It wasn't a sickly pale, more like a rosy sort of look as Carson would describe it.
A boy-scout sash was around his chest which was adorned with multiple pins of many colors. (Maybe that's where the nickname came from?) He was looking around with pure wonder in his bubblegum pink eyes. Carson recognized he was kinda staring at him and his cheeks flushed. Not liking the awkward silence after his realization, Carson kinda blurted:
"Would you like some tea?"
What.
Was.
He.
Thinking.
He had no tea? Why had he even suggested that? He hated tea! Maybe he was a disaster gay after all.
His sister was right.
"Oh no thank you, I don't drink it. Hehe, thanks for offering though!"
He said with a giggle. Carson felt his heart beat faster again, wow this was getting a bit annoying.
At least he didn't have to make tea he didn't have in the first place. He let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding in
"Okay, it's no problem. I'm allergic to most tea anyway."
Carson said trying to lighten the atmosphere. Scout looked at him with worry and shock in those big pink eyes
"Allergic? Oh no! That's just horrible, aw"
He dragged out that last aw so it lasted for far more syllables.
"It is really not that bad- I'm allergic to a lot of things- like most flowers, meat, nuts, tea, avocados, corn syrup."
As he said the line, though it Scout's face got more and more horrified. Carson looked at him, he didn't like that look on the other boy's face
"Don't worry about me, doll."
He said with a hint of bashfulness hiding under the confidence façade.
"But! You don't get to experience any of those super amazing things!"
The boy said with a hint of sadness and a small pout at the end.
"Oh, um. Well- I heard you like to..hike? Is that true?"
He questioned trying to change the subject to hopefully see the boy light up again.
And he did, with a smile that could light up a whole country.
"I love it so much! Nature is so beautiful and I love it! I should so take you sometime!! Are you free this Saturday at about..."
He paused to think
"Noon? I can pick you up!"
Honestly, Carson usually didn't wake up until 1 on the weekends, but, for that lovely boy he would wake up at four in the morning so he nodded.
"So, it is a date?"
Carson said with a smirk
"You could call it that I suppose, yeah. I'll see you then! I've got to go, sorry for not staying longer but it's almost 6 and my Dad will kill me if I'm late!" He stood up and smiled and started to walk towards the door as he smiled "Thanks for letting me stay for a bit. Have a good rest of your day!"
And then he was gone. Carson blinked and looked around.
That had to be the weirdest interaction he ever had.
He didn't even have a chance with this guy, he didn't know if he was even gay in the first place! Or if he already had a partner, ugh, love was so much work.
Carson tried to get back to his work but all he could think about was lovely pink eyes and radiant smiles.
He spent the rest of the day trying his best to focus on the blueprints and not the person that had brought them. That night he went to bed missing the warmth and butterflies in his heart that the boy had brought.
