The Shadow Within

Intro: The Dream

I couldnt see, darkness surrounded me as i drifted weightless in the void. I glanced around and noticed stars and distant shapes and colors.
"Am i in spac-" he thought before he felt a presence behind him. I turned and saw nothing but a loud voice suddenly rang in my head.
"You. You shall make the perfect host for my rise back to power. I must have my revenge for what theyve done." I look around for the source of the voice, but find nothing
"Who are they? And what do you mean hos-" i am suddenly interrupted by a burning pain in my head
"Silence. I will reveal myself when the time is right" with that the presence fades, and the burning spreads to the rest of my body. I screams in pain, as the darkness slowly consumes me.

My eyes fly open as i bolt upright, my phone buzzing on the nightstand. I wipe my face and put my feet on the floor. Glancing at my phone i see that i have a coupld missed texts from my friend Lee. I groan and stand up, "ugh how,re you gonna text a man first thing in the morning. Cant it wait?" I put on my glasses and head downstairs, looking at the texts as i go

"Yo when we meeting up?"

"Can it be after 12?"

"Cuz i gotta go shopping"

"Ill get u drink if u want"

I shoot back a text quickly, confirming the time and telling him to bring soda. I step into the kitchen to start making breakfast and getting ready for the day. As im brushing my teeth, i notice dark circles under my eyes. Mustve been because of the dream last night. I cant fully remeber but i remember screaming in pain, and the darkness. I shake my head to forget about it and continue on. About 30 minutes later im stepling outside, hopping in my car and heading out. I drive for awhile until i get to my friend savannahs house. A few of our friends live with her and we plan to meet up for the day.

"Hey sav. Hows life been treating you?"

"Oh the usual. Works been rough but i cant complain. How about you?"

He gives her a forced smile and laughs softly, remebering some of the stuff hes been through lately.

"Pretty much the same lately. Just been living life." He steps inside and immediately plops down on the couch. People slowly start to arrive, and the people living there begin waking up. Eventually a theres about 6 people in the living room, talking and discussing plans. I stand up and get everyones attention
"Ok so we,re going downtown.  The plan is to get lunch, and then we see where the wind takes us. We already have enough drinks and stuff so we can head out whenever you guys are ready." Everyone begins to pack up and get inthe car. As im watching, i cant shake the feeling that somethings going to go wrong. If only i had listened to that instinct, because i had no idea i right i would turn out to be....
