27 - Adults acting like Children

"What are you doing Mr Stark?" Nick demanded as he glided over the room and towards the trio.

"Uhh kinda been wondering the same about you." Tony retorted and smiled suggestively at Nick.

"You're supposed to be locating the tesseract." Nick reminded him a slight scowled at the man.

"We are." Bruce joined in the conversation, "The models locked and we're sweeping for the signature now. And when we get a hit we'll have the location with in half a mile."

"Then you'll get your cube back, no fuss." Tony added, grinning at Nick as he continued to read through the information on his screen. "What is phase two?" Tony asked without removing his eyes from the screen.

"Phase two is SHIELD uses the cube to make weapons!" Steve announced as he slammed an object down onto a table, "Sorry the computers were moving a little too slow for me."

"You're making weapons?" Harlow murmured in disbelief, she finally thought she was with the good guys.

"Rogers we gathered everything related to the tesseract. This does not mean that we-" Nick defended and walked over to Steve and the object.

"I'm sorry Nick." Tony interrupted him and turned the screen so it is directed to face them, "What, were you lying?" Tony faced them with a serious facial expression unlike his usual smirking face.

"I was wrong director, the world hasn't changed a bit." Steve lightly scoffed at Nick.

Harlow just sat in her seat watching the scene unfold in front of her. She was waiting for the right moment to get involved. Like Bruce she noticed when Nat and Thor joined them in the room. However unlike Harlow, Bruce decided to involve himself in the heated conversation.

"You know about this?" He asked Nat and narrowed his eyes on her.

"You wanna think about removing yourself from this environment doctor." Nat calmy and neutrally suggested and stood her ground whilst ignoring his question.

Harlow couldn't help but scoff and shake her head at the woman's comment. "Unbelievable." She mumbled to herself and received a slight glare from said woman.

"I was in Calcutta, I was pretty well removed." Bruce said through a laugh and glanced to look at Harlow. Bruce found himself taking comfort in being around Harlow, more so than the others. When she talked to him about the Hulk, she was supportive and surprisingly friendly. Tony liked to tease and the others avoided the subject completely.

She nodded her head at his words and moved to stand next to him. She put a comforting hand on his arm and sent her own heated glare back at Nat.

"Loki is manipulating you." Nat told Bruce as she walked closer to him.

"And you've been doing what exactly?" Bruce retorted and edged away from Nat ever so slightly.

"You didn't come here because I batted my eyelashes at you." Nat quipped back with the roll of her eyes.

"Yes and I'm not leaving because you get all twitchy." Bruce replied and grabbed the edge of the screen so he could turn it. "I would like to know why SHIELD is using the tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction."

The room was coated in silence as everyone turned to Nick for answers. All of them eyeing him and expecting him to answer them truthfully.

"Because of him!" Nick declared and pointed at Thor. Harlow couldn't help but let out a snort at the mans dramatics.

"Me?" Thor questioned in confusion and defence. He looked over at Nick with a big frown.

"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we alone but we are hopelessly, hilariously out gunned." Nick explained and walked around as he did so.
