Looking at his trusted sword, the first-class spiritual weapon Subian Wei Wuxian smiled.

" Ah....better rest now before Jiang Cheng-"
" WEI WUXIAN !!"
" Oops...."

Snickering, Wei Wuxian jumped on the roof of a nearby building, running away laughing while curses continued to flow in his direction from below.
The sound of his laughter was carried along by gentle breeze, happy to pass on such a bubbly laugh, tickling the trees as it went.

The weather was good, the sun shining brightly above with clouds passing by.

Just the mood for the main market.

If Wei Wuxian was still a part of Jiang Clan and Shijie had been alive with no war shadowing their lives, this would be the hour of the day when they would go to the main market —on their way towards the docks and connected lakes full of blooming lotuses.

Wei Ying often carried younger shidis or shimies on his shoulder, too small to walk around unsupervised but so, so adorable that you just cannot stop yourself from smooching them.

They would fool around for a while, Wei Ying buying tanghalu and fish cakes for Shijie and pork buns for Jiang Cheng and making the small shidi or shimie slide just a bit, so they ended up grabbing Jiang Yanli's around the head or her face.

Jiang Yanli would simply smile joyfully, enjoying the soft touch of baby palms before the small chubby hands removed themselves to clutch at Wei Wuxian harder.

Jiang Cheng would grumble a bit but eat the bun nonetheless, melting tini-tiny bit at the sight of his sister with the small ones. They both remembered themselves being babied by her— something even Jiang Cheng was soft about.

That life seems far away now, an impossible dream; something of a childish wish.

After a while when it seemed safe enough to touch the ground, Wei Ying spotted a group of Jiang disciples murmuring among themselves. The disciples seem to be sharing some secrets as some of them were even giggling. Oh, how he loved such kids.

" Hey! What are you all talking about ?"

The disciples jumped upon hearing him, bowing hurriedly, one of them hiding something behind their back which caught Wei Wuxian's eyes.

What could the disciples have that they needed to hide ? Lotus Pier did not have strict rules on alcohols or trinkets so.....

One of them whom Wei Wuxian thought was a senior disciple spoke, "Uh nothing... Wei qianbe! We were.....just planning to visit one of the Lotus ponds."

It turned out to be the wrong thing to say as Wei Wuxian visibly brightened at the mention of lotus ponds, a wide smile blooming on his face before his expression turned mystified.

Shijie might not be here, but Jin Ling definitely knew the joys of lotus ponds. That brat was just acting annoyed but his letters said otherwise. If only Jiang Cheng....

Disregarding that line of thought firmly, Wei Wuxian eyed the disciples, a mischievous twinkling was present in his eyes which the disciples mistook for a dangerous gleam.

The senior disciple from earlier spoke again before Wei Wuxian could utter a single word, " We are not taking any adults with us! "

" What ?"

" It's just for us disciples, no adults allowed. Also, Jiang zhongzhu would rain zidian on us if we took you!"

The disciple continued, the others nodding vigorously and trying to keep Wei Wuxian from joining them.
And Wei Wuxian wouldn't have, if he had felt even a bit of malevolence or resentment from the boy but there was none.
