JENNIE

"She killed Mrs. Vega," Lisa said again while we discuss things in front of the monitor. The maid was now back in the interrogation room.

"The result isn't out yet. Do you have evidence?" Rosé whose eyes were stuck on the unmoving suspect displayed on the screen asked the newcomer.

"Her alibi is good. We checked. She didn't go to Mrs. Vega's place on the day of the incident," I added before I folded my arms and averted my gaze away from the short-haired woman.

"The adoptive son choked her to death. We'll find his fingerprints on the victim's body soon enough," Rosé said again.

"I am telling you, the victim didn't die because of that. She didn't die from interference of breathing," Lisa spoke as if she knew everything that has happened. She added, "you are right that the result will show that the fingerprints on the victim's neck is from the adoptive son. He was there, the statement about the wrangling was true, and he choked her but he stopped before she runs out of breath. In other words, he almost killed her but he didn't."

My eyes widened in disbelief. How did she know about Ms. Sharon's statement? She wasn't here when I interrogated her awhile ago. She wasn't with us in the crime scene. How did she know everything? How can she be so sure about what actually happened when the results aren't out yet?

"How can you be so sure of what you're saying? And if she didn't die because of her adoptive son, how did she end up dead?" I tried my best to ask casually, trying to find some holes in Lisa's statement.

"She was poisoned," she replied with all certainty as she sat down beside Rosé.

"Tell me you're kidding us without telling me you're kidding us," Eun Woo who just arrived commented.

"There were no signs that she was poisoned. No discoloration. No stains on clothes. No Mees' line. And there's no abnormal or kerosene like odor-"

"Those were just based on your external evaluation Mr. Cha," she interrupted him. Eun Woo was surprised that the newbie knew who he is.

I must admit, I was taken aback that she knows too much about the case. She knows a lot. And she probably knows us too.

Who are you, Lisa Manoban? Why do you know so much when this is just our first encounter?

"There was a drug in the pill that she take everyday that caused her severe vasospasm resulting in myocardial infarction and arrhythmias. I know you won't believe me now, but you will believe me soon enough," she stood up then she spoke again, "search Sharon's garbage bin, the original pill might still be there. I already sent the pills found at the crime scene to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. The result will probably be out tomorrow."

"Why Sharon? What is her motive?" that was the only question that left my mouth.

She looked back at me then she gave me a knowing smile, "Sit back and watch me, Detective Kim."

Lisa entered the room. She turned on the recording button. She sat down in front of the suspect and stayed silent. She just looked at her for a couple of minutes. It was as if she was studying her.

"I'll start," she looked at us through the one sided mirror and smirked. She's starting to scare me. She's like a psycho. A crazy gorgeous psycho.

Wait. Did I just say gorgeous?

I must be so tired. Now, I'm babbling random things.

"Two years ago, when Mrs. Vega's husband passed away and the former suffered from PTSD, she was given a medicine by her doctor that she is in need to take everyday, right?" Lisa spoke as if she was just narrating a story.

"Y-yes,"

"Starting from that moment, you were the one who went to her doctor to get her prescribed meds since Justin, her adoptive son, can't do the job because he's working outside the town and only goes home on weekends," the person of interest nodded. The interrogation was going smoothly but at the side of my mind, I kept on asking myself, how can she gather so much information in just a short period of time?

"You were doing as told until such time that the victim abused you, maltreated you, and shown you her aggressive behavior due to her severe emotional distress," Lisa paused and smiled mockingly at the suspect. Sharon was now facing downward with her fist clenched. She slowly met Lisa's burning gaze. She bit her lip, shook her head slowly, and faked a smile.

She's reacting!

Could she really be the culprit? Is Lisa right?

"Y-you're wrong. Mrs. Vega was so good to me. She was. And she will always be," the new detective chuckled. She's playing with the criminal's mind.

"That's it. You never thought that your boss will do such thing to you considering the fact that you overworked yourself for her sake, even left no time for your little brother-your late little brother rather-"

"Don't mention him! He's not part of this."

"You weren't supposed to work overtime that night but because Mrs. Vega's angry outbursts visit again, you came home late-way too late that you found your little brother at home, lifeless. He died because of severe pneumonia-"

"I said don't mention him!" Sharon raised her voice higher and banged her clenched fists on the table. But Lisa acted like she didn't hear her.

This girl, she's starting to blow my mind off.

"That's when you started putting all the blame to Mrs. Vega. That's when you started replacing her pills with drugs-the same drugs that poisoned her slowly, everyday, bit by bit," Lisa continued. The next thing I knew, Sharon was already holding the detective by her collar.

"She only deserves it. She's old and sick anyway. She's going to die soon too. That's why I killed her. I did! But I hope you know that my testimony alone won't get me behind bars, right? Find your evidence. Prove me guilty before I end your life too," Sharon said in a whisper, her face was now an inch closer to Lisa but the detective was not even surprised by the attack. She was still wearing an unreadable expression.

Eun Woo was about to enter the room to help the newcomer but I signalled him to stop.

"Do you think Sandro will be happy that your life end up like this?" Lisa asked in a low voice. The woman suddenly loosen her grip and was speechless for a moment. Lisa took the chance to free herself from the woman's hands. She fixed herself as she stood up.

"You think you cleaned everything up but you're mistaken. Who knows that a simple garbage bin can be the reason why you will end up behind bars? Am I right, Ms. Sharon?"
